Boston College enters 2026 desperate for a reset. The Eagles finished just 2-10 last season, going 1-7 in ACC play while allowing 32.8 points per game. They ranked 123rd nationally in scoring defense and finished with the worst overall record in the ACC.

Needless to say, change was needed, and change happened this offseason. Boston College brought in 26 transfers and 25 freshmen during the offseason, also operating with a dramatically different personnel group under HC Bill O'Brien.

Their biggest change comes at QB, where they'll hand the offense to redshirt junior transfer Mason McKenzie from Division II Saginaw Valley State. While McKenzie doesn't have the traditional Power Four background, he's thrown for over 4,300 yards and 31 TDs during his career while adding more than 1,600 rushing yards and 18 TDs on the ground.

He was also named the 2025 GLIAC Player of the Year. If Trinidad Chambliss has taught us anything, it’s to not write off the talent at the D-II level.

The Eagles also added Liberty transfer RB Evan Dickens, who is coming off a massive 2025 season in which he rushed for 1,339 yards, ninth-most in the country.

Cincinnati, meanwhile, is entering Year 4 under HC Scott Satterfield.

The Bearcats went 7-6 last season but finished the year on a five-game losing streak, including a loss to Navy in the Liberty Bowl. They now have an opportunity to immediately erase some of the bad taste from that late-season collapse.

Much like BC, Cincinnati will also be breaking in a new QB in Georgia Southern transfer QB JC French IV, who takes over for QB Brendan Sorsby. French threw for 2,929 yards and 20 TDs last season, adding 315 yards and six TDs on the ground.

The Bearcats lost significant production at the skill positions, but their offensive line could be one of the team's biggest strengths. OL Joe Cotton and OL Evan Tengesdahl both earned preseason All-Big 12 honors.

Cincinnati replaced most of its defensive unit during the offseason and brought in Nate Woody as defensive coordinator. Woody arrives from Army with an aggressive defensive philosophy built around pressure, disruption, and turnovers.
