In last week’s loss to FAU, however, he left the game with an ankle injury, forcing Jackson Gutierrez to step in. Gutierrez did exceptionally well, recording 3 total TDs and nearly bringing Navy back from a 38-7 deficit.
If Woodson can’t go, Navy head coach Brian Newberry could feel confident in Gutierrez stepping in and taking the snaps. He also ran for 2 TDs in the Week 1 win over Towson.
This matchup could be a battle in the trenches with both teams favoring the run. According to Team Rankings, UAB ranks in the 83rd percentile for rush play percentage (61.8%), and Navy ranks in the 77th percentile (60.0%).
Both teams also excel at running the ball, with Navy ranking in the 98th percentile in EPA per rush (+0.45) and UAB sitting in the 72nd percentile (+0.14).
The Midshipmen may have the edge in the run game, with the Blazers sitting in the 29th percentile in EPA/rush ceded (+0.14) and the 20th percentile in yards allowed per carry (4.7).
Navy very well could excel on the ground with Gutierrez leading the way.

The reigning CFP National Champion Hoosiers are off to an incredible 3-0 start. Although they’ve faced easier competition in North Texas, Howard, and Western Kentucky, they’ve earned style points for the lopsided results of these games.
Indiana is outscoring its opponents 145-16 and hasn't allowed a point over the last nine quarters.
QB Josh Hoover has been solid, with his 10 passing TDs ranking fourth in the country. Because Indiana has controlled games early, he hasn’t needed to throw much and has only 51 pass attempts.
The run game has been the anchor, and RB Turbo Richard leads it. He’s been among the top backs in college football, boasting an elite yards-per-carry average (7.7) and leading the country in carries of 10+ yards (11) while also posting 4.83 yards after contact per attempt, via Pro Football Focus.
Indiana is hosting Northwestern, another potential matchup in which Richard could play a major role. The Wildcats have struggled against the run, ranking in the 26th percentile in yards allowed per carry (4.4), and the 19th percentile in rushing success rate yielded (50.0%).
The Hoosiers are heavily favored, meaning this could be another game they control by running the ball and giving Richard opportunities to find the end zone.

Clemson vs. Cal Anytime TD Scorer Prediction – 10:30 p.m. ET

Cal got its ACC schedule off to a strong start by erasing a 12-0 deficit against Syracuse to win 21-18. The Golden Bears hope that newly hired head coach Tosh Lupoi can bring success to a program that hasn’t finished with double-digit wins since 2006.
The Golden Bears are utilizing the talent they have on offense. Cal QB Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele is having a better 2026 season. He’s improved from 7.0 yards per completion last year to 8.0 and from a 131.6 passer rating to 151.5.
Another key piece has been RB Adam Mohammed, and he's among the most-used backs in the country, placing 10th in carries (60) and second in receptions (14).
He has big-play ability as a pass catcher and runner, as shown by an FBS-leading 185 yards after the catch. He's also fourth with 256 yards after contact.
This week, Cal travels to Death Valley to take on a Clemson team coming off a comeback win over North Carolina.
This matchup could see Mohammed play a key role for the Golden Bears, as the Tigers are in the 18th percentile in yards allowed per carry (4.7) and the fourth-worst EPA allowed per rush (+0.35).
In Clemson’s last matchup against UNC, North Carolina RB Brandon Hall had an incredible game with 130 rushing yards and a 15-yard TD catch.
