Let's look at our best NBA win total predictions for the upcoming season.

Boston Celtics Win Total Prediction: 55+

2025-26 Record: 56-26

Projected Win Total: 55+ (Yes 2.12x I No 1.66x)

The Celtics’ roster makeup changed significantly after the franchise traded SG/SF Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers this summer. Brown spent his first 10 seasons in Boston and earned NBA Finals MVP honors en route to the Celtics’ 2024 NBA title.

The deal's centerpiece brought Paul George to the Celtics to fill the void Brown left. George isn't quite an elite wing anymore, but he still proved to be a perimeter threat with a 39.2% shooting clip from beyond the arc when he was healthy.

Boston did lose Brown and C Nikola Vucevic from last year’s squad. Obviously, having a full season of SG/SF Jayson Tatum is a huge plus, but the Celtics may not be as dangerous offensively this season with their big two no longer together.

Portland Trail Blazers Win Total Prediction: 45+

2025-26 Record: 42-40

Projected Win Total: 45+ (Yes 2.22x I No 1.61x)

The Trail Blazers made the NBA playoffs for the first time in five seasons in 2025-26 after securing the No. 7 seed in the Play-In Tournament. After a five-year absence, Portland didn’t get complacent and made a splash by acquiring PG Ja Morant in an offseason trade with the Memphis Grizzlies. Morant now has a chance to play on an already successful squad led by Deni Avdija.

Portland has made the most underrated move of the offseason with the acquisition of Morant. The star guard needed a change of scenery and brings a ton of athleticism to a new-look Trail Blazers backcourt that will also include PG/SG Damian Lillard.

Morant is the definition of an offensive playmaker who can attack the rim while also being a tremendous facilitator, with 24.4 potential assists per 100 possessions, per databallr.

Avdija is coming off his first All-Star season, averaging a career-best 24.2 PPG and 6.7 APG. SG Shaedon Sharpe is working his way back from a torn meniscus that he suffered in August, so he’ll be out into 2027. If Portland can rely on its stellar guard group of Lillard, Morant, PG Jrue Holiday, and G Scoot Henderson, the team could take the next step and be one of the top teams in the West.

Miami Heat Win Total Prediction: 50+

2025-26 Record: 43-39

Projected Win Total: 50+ (Yes 2.22x I No 1.56x)

The Heat reached the NBA Finals in 2022-23 and missed the playoffs completely in 2025-26, the first time since 2018-19. Miami made a bold move this summer, landing PF Giannis Antetokounmpo in a blockbuster deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.

With Antetokounmpo paired with big man Bam Adebayo, the Heat now have one of the league's most dominant frontcourts. While Antetokounmpo is a walking double-double, the 10-time All-Star will bring his defensive acumen to a Heat team that allowed 118.5 PPG last season (22nd).

Antetokounmpo is a high-volume shooter, recording 35.6 true shot attempts per 100 possessions, which ranked in the 100th percentile last season.

For the Heat, the biggest question mark will be where perimeter shooting will come from this season. The Antetokounmpo trade sent SG Tyler Herro and SF Jaime Jaquez Jr. to the Bucks, while SG Norman Powell signed with the Chicago Bulls in free agency.

Miami added SG/SF Klay Thompson and SG/SF Tim Hardaway Jr. this offseason, but will the Heat have enough shooting to rank among the East’s top teams in 2026-27? Thompson and Hardaway seem unlikely to be the answer, and it'll be interesting to see how they adjust their play style to accompany Giannis.

Los Angeles Lakers Win Total Prediction: 50+

2025-26 Record: 53-29

Projected Win Total: 50+ (Yes 2.32x I No 1.51x)

The Lakers saw future Hall of Famer LeBron James take his talents to the Philadelphia 76ers, leaving a glaring hole in the team’s starting lineup. Simply put, this is now Luka Doncic's team, a season after he led the NBA with 33.5 points per game, often bolstered by injuries to James and SG Austin Reaves in 2026.

Los Angeles landed C Walker Kessler in a trade with the Utah Jazz and signed SF Quentin Grimes, who spent the last two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Kessler is expected to be a much-needed improvement at the center position after the failed Deandre Ayton experiment. The former Auburn star has been a double-double machine over the last two seasons and is an above-average rim protector.

The Lakers will rely on Doncic and Reaves to be the team’s top scoring options. However, losing a player of James’ caliber, including his leadership element, could cause the team to take a step back in 2026-27. But there are certainly a lot of unknowns on this team in the post-LeBron era.

Indiana Pacers Win Total Prediction: 45+

2025-26 Record: 19-63

Projected Win Total: 45+ (Yes 1.58x I No 2.12x)

It’s no secret that it was a season to forget for the Pacers in 2025-26. PG Tyrese Haliburton missed the entire season with a torn Achilles tendon, but the veteran floor general is back and healthy. Indiana added C Ivica Zubac at the 2026 trade deadline and signed G/F Kelly Oubre Jr. to anchor the bench this offseason.

The Pacers certainly could have a huge bounce-back campaign this season.

New Orleans Pelicans Win Total Prediction: 30+

2025-26 Record: 26-56

Projected Win Total: 30+ (Yes 1.88x I No 1.81x)

The Pelicans played just 14 games last season with PG Dejounte Murray running the offense. The talented guard suffered a torn Achilles tendon in 2024-25 and didn’t return until February.

New Orleans should have a full season with Murray and PF Zion Williamson (fingers crossed) leading the way, while second-year players C Derik Queen and PG/SG Jeremiah Fears could take the next step after productive rookie campaigns.

That said, the Pelicans have had a young core before and failed to convert it into wins. Could this be the year that changes?
