Few teams have PR as bad as the 2-3 Philadelphia Eagles right now. They’ve lost three consecutive games, and a woeful offense is playing a major factor.
Injuries aren’t helping the Eagles’ cause, as RB Saquon Barkley and WR DeVonta Smith were absent in Week 5’s dramatic 19-17 loss vs. the Jaguars, and now QB Jalen Hurts is set to miss Sunday due to a superficial blood clot.
Barkley missed most of Week 2 with a stinger, took a 6.6% snap share after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 4, and was absent last week. He’s appeared in only two full games thus far, but could that change for Week 6’s matchup with the Panthers?
Below, we’ll look at the latest Saquon Barkley injury update and if he could play in Week 6 vs. the Panthers. How could his potential return impact fantasy football and picks for PrizePicks?

Saquon Barkley Injury Update: Latest Injury News Ahead of Week 6
As mentioned, Saquon has been fully active for only two of five games thus far. That follows 16 games played in the 2024 and 2025 seasons. Perhaps his 378 and 317 touches over the last two seasons have caught up to the 29-year-old tailback.
If Barkley misses another game due to his hamstring injury, this would be the first time Saquon has been held out of multiple games since missing three for an ankle injury in 2023.
Barkley failed to practice last week, and he was once again out for Wednesday’s practice, per the Eagles’ injury report. Ahead of Week 6, head coach Nick Sirianni said he’s “hopeful” Barkley and WR DeVonta Smith would return from injury this week.
Keep in mind Eagles RB Tank Bigsby is on injured reserve due to a core muscle injury, and RB Will Shipley is set to miss multiple weeks from a foot injury. If Saquon is out once again in Week 6, who could Philly turn to vs. the Panthers?
Eagles Fantasy Football Outlook If Saquon Is Out
Alongside Barkley's absence from practice on Wednesday, DeVonta Smith was also out. Eagles G Landon Dickerson brought good news as a limited participant.
However, there are still clear worries on this offensive line with OT Markel Bell taking over for OT Lane Johnson, who retired last week. Plus, Philadelphia G Tyler Steen was limited at Wednesday’s practice due to a shoulder injury.
Now, with QB Jalen Hurts also out for Week 6, this offense is as thin as it gets. Backup QB Tanner McKee has made two starts since 2024, including 241 pass yards, 1 passing TD, and 1 INT in Week 18 last season.
If Saquon is out, the Eagles will be without their top three RBs. Will Shipley had only a 21.0% snap share due to injury last week, leading to a 77.4% snap rate for RB Dameon Pierce, who totaled 11 carries, 14 rushing yards, 5 targets, 2 receptions, and -2 receiving yards vs. the Jaguars.
Despite 13 touches, Pierce totaled a deflating 12 scrimmage yards last week. According to Pro Football Focus, Pierce has an inefficient 1.91 yards after contact per carry. The Eagles also have a 71% run block win rate that ranks 23rd, per ESPN.
Pierce is likely set to receive most carries if Barkley is out, but inefficiencies could lead to fading this run game.
However, the Panthers allow 5.4 yards per carry (32nd), and their top CBs Jaycee Horne and Mike Jackson remain out due to injury. Carolina gives up 27.3 PPG (26th) and 5.8 yards per play (27th).
Will a injury-riddled Eagles offense still find a way to produce in Week 6’s matchup?

Make Panthers vs. Eagles Picks on PrizePicks
After missing Wednesday’s practice, Saquon Barkley is in danger of missing another game. Alongside injuries to QB Jalen Hurts and WR DeVonta Smith, finding any value on this offense is difficult, but the Panthers’ recent struggles on defense gives Philly some hope.
