NBA Injury Report Today for Key Players: Wednesday, 10/22/25
Here are the key injuries to note from Wednesday's NBA injury report before making your NBA picks on PrizePicks today.
As we enter the season, the list of players that will be missing is extensive, so be sure to stay tapped into how teams are moving without these players in.
Timberwolves SG Anthony Edwards vs. Blazers
Injury Status: Questionable (back)
Which Player Could Benefit: Shaedon Sharpe, Donte DiVincenzo
Not having to defend Edwards would make anybody’s offensive life easier. For the Wolves, Edwards' 31.3% usage is a significant gap to fill. Last season, Naz Reid was a benefactor, seeing his usage rise from 21% to 24.2% when he plays without Ant on the floor. Donte DiVincenzo would also see starter minutes if Ant sits.
Blazers G Shaedon Sharpe vs. Timberweolves Projections: 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds
Cavaliers PG Darius Garland vs. Knicks
Injury Status: Out (toe)
Which Player Could Benefit: Lonzo Ball, Donovan Mitchell
When healthy, the former Laker and Bull is All-Star adjacent, and will look to hit that rare air in his Cavs debut, likely to draw the start at PG. Garland's 27.5% usage rate should be distributed mostly between SG Donovan Mitchell and PF Evan Mobley.
Cavs G Lonzo Ball vs. Knicks Projections: 7.5 points, 3.5 assists
Suns SG Jalen Green vs. Kings
Injury Status: Out (hamstring)
Which Player Could Benefit: Devin Booker
After Phoenix gutted their roster, Booker is beyond the alpha dog, and without his new backcourt sidekick, he’ll likely be expected to carry the team more than usual. Last year, without Kevin Durant (now on the Rockets) or Bradley Beal (now on Clippers) on the floor, Booker had a massive 33.6% usage rate, compared to 28.9% on the season.
With so many other changes to this roster, and Grayson Allen questionable, it's a wait and see situation for all players outside of Booker.
Suns G Devin Booker vs. Kings Projections: 28.5 points, 8 assists
Heat SG Tyler Herro vs. Magic
Injury Status: Out (foot/ankle)
Which Player Could Benefit: Bam Adebayo, Davion Mitchell
The former All-Star big man is one of two players on the Heat roster who can create his own shot — SF Andrew Wiggins being the other — and he’ll probably be expected to do just that while Herro is on the shelf for the next 2-3 months.
Last year, Bam's usage rose from 23.8% on the season to 27.5% with Herro and now-traded SF Jimmy Butler off the floor.
In Herro's place, Davion Mitchell and Norman Powell should soak up most of his minutes.
Heat C Bam Adebayo vs. Magic Projections: 19 points, 9 rebounds
Kings C Domantas Sabonis vs. Suns
Injury Status: Out (hamstring)
Which Player Could Benefit: DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, Drew Eubanks
DeRozan never met a shot he didn’t like, and without the ball-depedent Sabonis sucking up the touches, he’ll have all the looks he wants. With De'Aaron Fox (now on Spurs) and Sabonis off the floor in 2024-25, DeRozan's usage jumped to 28.5% vs. 25% on the season.
Zach LaVine should also see a tick up in shots. We'll also see Drew Eubanks start at center in all likelihood, but it's hard to know what we'll get out of Eubanks on his new squad.
Kings SF DeMar DeRozan vs. Suns Projections via PrizePicks: 22.5 points, 4 rebounds
Bulls SG Coby White vs. Pistons
Injury Status: Out (calf)
Which Player Could Benefit: Ayo Dosunmu, Josh Giddey
White is set to miss the first few weeks of the season. The University of Illinois product averaged 15.2 points in the preseason, and could be a major factor if he’s in the starting lineup at SG as expected.
Additionally, PG Josh Giddey may also see more action as a shooter and distributor, while C Nikola Vuceevic may also see a tick up in usage.
Bulls SG Ayo Dosunmu vs. Pistons Projections: 12.5 points, 2.5 assists
