After suffering another elbow injury vs. the Cowboys in Week 2, Commanders QB Jayden Daniels was out in Week 3, but he’s dodged injured reserve, suggesting a return could arrive sooner rather than later.
Daniels was a limited participant at Wednesday’s practice. The Commanders’ QB is trending in the right direction, but will he play in Week 4 vs. the Colts?
Let’s look at the latest Jayden Daniels injury update and if he could return for Sunday’s matchup in London, England. Plus, we’ll look at how Daniels’ status shifts Colts vs. Commanders picks for PrizePicks.

Jayden Daniels Injury Update: When Will Daniels Return From Elbow Injury?
Ahead of Week 3’s battle with the Seahawks, Jayden Daniels was out for all three practices, leading to his first full absence due to the elbow injury. His limited appearance at Wednesday’s practice was a major step in the right direction.
He was once again spotted throwing at Thursday’s practice. Daniels also made a media appearance for the first time since suffering the injury. He discussed not having surgery, followed by stating the injury has not affected his throwing motion.
After Daniels suffered the elbow injury in Week 2’s 37-20 loss vs. the Cowboys, the sky was falling in Washington. However, the Commanders followed that with a shocking 33-31 home win vs. the Seahawks last week, and now, Daniels could have a real shot of playing in Week 4.
Even if Daniels is out once again on Sunday, a return still seems on the horizon. Remember, Daniels dealt with a left elbow injury last season as well, and the setback led to missing seven of the final right regular-season games. This time around, his injury outlook looks far more positive.
Commanders Fantasy Football Outlook If Daniels Is Out
The Commanders travel to London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Week 4’s matchup with the Colts. Indianapolis comes off its first win of the season, defeating the Texans 19-17.
Similar to last season, the Colts have mostly been involved in high-scoring games — including Week 1’s 41-23 defeat vs. the Ravens and Week 2’s 33-30 overtime loss against the Chiefs. Indy has posted 24.0 PPG (15th) while allowing 30.3 PPG (29th).
According to PrizePicks, the Colts vs. Commanders feature a healthy 47.5 over/under for Sunday’s 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff on NFL Network. If Daniels is active, that could mean a positive scoring environment.
RBSDM gives Indianapolis a 50.4% dropback success rate allowed (26th) and 0.201 dropback EPA allowed (25th). Opponents have posted a lofty 8.8 yards per passing attempt (30th), while the Colts carry a concerning 42% pass rush win rate (29th), per ESPN.
If Daniels misses his second consecutive game, PrizePicks is currently offering stat projections for backup QB Marcus Mariota, including 213.5 pass yards, 27.5 rush yards, and a 16 fantasy score.
In Week 3, Mariota recorded 183 passing yards, 3 passing TDs, 11 rushing yards, and 20.4 fantasy points (QB14).
