The 2026 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is heating up, and only eight teams remain in the field. On Saturday night, No. 9 Iowa and No. 3 Illinois clash with a berth in the National Semifinals on the line.

The evening bout at 6:09 p.m. on TBS and truTV sees the Hawkeyes take on the Fighting Illini as 7.5-point underdogs. Can head coach Ben McCollum’s crew continue to play spoiler in the tournament?

Illinois, similarly, is having a very solid season. Head coach Brad Underwood’s group is 27-8 on the year, led by star freshman G Keaton Wagler. The Illini took down Pennsylvania by 35 and VCU by 21 in rounds one and two before dispatching Houston, 65-55, in the Round of 16. 

These two programs have squared off 136 times dating back to 1949, with Illinois owning a 74-62 advantage in those bouts. Their average scoring differential is +1.6 points.
