For Week 6 of the college football season, FOX’s Big Noon features #7 Indiana (5-0) on the road vs. Nebraska (5-0) for a 12:00 p.m. ET kickoff at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. According to PrizePicks, Indiana is a 7.5-point favorite for the spread on Saturday, October 10.

The defending national champions are undefeated and come off a dominant 47-15 win over Rutgers last week, though the Hoosiers have yet to be favored by less than 20.5 points in a game. Nebraska’s 5-0 start is its best since going 7-0 in 2016, as the Cornhuskers hope to re-join college football’s national powers.

Below, we’ll dive into our Indiana vs. Nebraska prediction and player picks for PrizePicks.

This is the perfect game to represent the current college football landscape in the NIL and transfer portal era.

Nebraska, a former powerhouse with five national championships and three in the 1990s, continues to struggle with no double-digit win season since 2012.

Meanwhile, Indiana had minimal success throughout its history, but head coach Curt Cignetti came in and changed everything. Following a program-changing 11-2 finish in Cignetti’s first season in Bloomington, the Hoosiers had one of the most dominant seasons in FBS history with a 16-0 record and national championship last season.

IU remains one of college football’s best, thanks to 5-0 record. Following September 25’s 29-23 win over Northwestern as 20.5-point favorites, the Hoosiers bounced back in a 47-15 win vs. Rutgers as 24.5-point favorites on the road last week.

Still, Indiana looks far more human compared to 2025’s +27.1 average scoring margin (first nationally). The pass defense has been a flaw allowing 7.4 yards per passing attempt (49th percentile), but that could get a boost with CB A.J. Harris potentially playing for the first time since Week 1.

Staying on the injury front, Indiana starting TE Andrew Barker, who has only 1 catch on the season, is out. Nebraska DT Riley Van Poppel was added to the injury report as questionable on Thursday; he is third on the team with 9 pressures, per Pro Football Focus.

The Cornhuskers have cruised to 48-23 and 31-13 wins over Maryland (-15.5) and Michigan State (-5.5) to open Big Ten play. The defense forced 2.5 turnovers per game in those contests, aided by an 18.7% havoc rate (80th percentile) for the season, per Fourth and Short.

Nebraska is further elevated by 46.0 PPG (98th percentile) and 6.5 yards per play (87th percentile) on offense, but will the offense continue to dominate with its toughest test of the season vs. #7 Indiana?

Indiana vs. Nebraska Prediction on Spread – 10/10/26

The turnover battle could be the biggest key for this game. Nebraska enjoys a +1.5 turnover margin (96th percentile) per game, averaging only 0.5 turnovers (93rd percentile) while forcing 2.0 turnovers per game (91st percentile).

Meanwhile, Indiana has forced only 0.5 takeaways per contest (12th percentile) but has yet to turn it over vs. FBS competition. That’s fueling a position +0.5 turnover margin per contest (70th percentile).

Hoosier QB Josh Hoover had major turnover tendencies last season, throwing 13 INTs in 12 games at TCU. That’s cleaned up with 1 turnover-worthy play over 119 dropbacks this season, per Pro Football Focus.

Hoover is further supported by an offensive line allowing just a 10.1% havoc rate (91st percentile), and an elite run game totaling 6.4 yards per carry (99th percentile) and a 49.0% rush success rate (82nd percentile), per Game on Paper.

Nebraska has a formula for moving the ball, courtesy of -0.31 EPA per passing attempt (97th percentile), while IU’s defense has given up 0.14 EPA per passing attempt (38th percentile). If the Huskers can also win the turnover battle, they’re in business for an upset win or cover against the spread.

Against Indiana’s offense with a 59.06% rush-play rate (81st percentile), the Cornhuskers must slow the run. This should put Hoover in obvious passing downs with a chance to force turnovers, trumping the Hoosiers’ 5.86 average third-down distance (92nd percentile).

While Nebraska is yielding only 3.3 yards per carry (80th percentile) on defense, the Huskers produce an uninspiring 16.6% stuff rate (28th percentile) and give up 3.0 line yards per carry (35th percentile), measured by yards per rush allowed at the line of scrimmage.

Those advanced metrics suggest regression is ahead for Nebraska’s run defense. Indiana’s efficiency isn’t in question right now, with the offense posting 3.6 line yards per carry (93rd percentile) while giving up a low 12.1% stuff rate (95th percentile).

If Nebraska cannot stop the run, the Hoosiers can control this game and keep Hoover in comfortable spots, avoiding turnover problems on the road.
