We've reached Week 7 of the college football season, where every loss could knock you out of the conference title race but every win gets you closer to a big bowl game or the College Football Playoff.

Saturday brings us 52 games to end a week that started with outings on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. ‍

Last week, we nailed Iowa’s upset of Washington on Friday and Kentucky’s outright upset of LSU on Saturday, making it five straight weeks (and seven upsets overall) that have hit in this column.

Saturday boasts eight games in the SEC, seven of which are conference clashes, including three ranked matchups. Two SEC outings have our attention: a big one in Knoxville and one featuring an unranked team favored by a touchdown.

Below, we’ll break down our upset picks for Saturday’s college football games, including #15 Kentucky vs. Oklahoma and #6 Alabama vs. #14 Tennessee, along with spreads and payouts on PrizePicks.

Week 7 College Football Predictions, Upset Picks – Saturday, October 17

This Saturday has plenty of underdogs, but two games stand out as potential college football upset spots. These dogs have a payout higher than 2x to win outright on PrizePicks as of writing.

Kentucky looks for another upset, this time on the road in Norman facing Oklahoma at 7:30 p.m. on SEC Network. Elsewhere, Alabama is at Tennessee in a big SEC battle of single-loss teams at 3:30 p.m. on ABC.

The payouts listed below indicate real-money earnings if a prediction is correct; for example, a 2x on a $100 entry pays out $200. The lower the payout multiplier, the higher the chance of the outcome occurring, according to user picks.

#15 Kentucky vs. Oklahoma: College Football Upset Watch Today

Start Time: 7:30 p.m. ET | TV: SEC Network

Win Spread Total
UK Wildcats 2.77x +6.5 | 1.85x o43.5x | 1.85x
OKLA Sooners 1.4x -6.5 | 1.88x u43.5 | 1.88x

We’ve taken Kentucky in this column many times and been correct on the upstart Wildcats under first-year head coach Will Stein. A week after upsetting South Carolina, they knocked off LSU, returning 3.44x value for all those who chose them at PrizePicks.

This week, the Wildcats take their new #15 ranking on the road, looking for their third consecutive upset win and fourth overall, having beaten Texas A&M in College Station as well.

In the back-to-back upsets over South Carolina and LSU, both 35-34 OT wins, the Wildcats won with QB efficiency, aggressive fourth-down decisions, and late-game execution.

QB Kenny Minchey completed 66.2% of his passes and has thrown just 1 INT in 178 attempts. The Wildcats forced 2 turnovers in each victory without committing one themselves, good for a combined +4 turnover margin. They're now +7 for the season.

Kentucky’s efficiency matters because Oklahoma’s defense ranks first nationally in EPA/play. The Sooners are coming off a huge upset win over #1 Texas at the Red River Rivalry and have a top-10 defense in yards and points, but the offense ranks just 83rd in adjusted offensive EPA/play (Game on Paper).

The Sooners’ 27-point output vs. the Longhorns was the most they've scored since a 51-0 victory over UTEP to start the season. In between, Oklahoma scored 37 combined points vs. Michigan, New Mexico, and Georgia.

Kentucky has already shown it can win tough SEC games, beating Texas A&M and South Carolina on the road and taking down LSU at home. Its offensive efficiency is also better than its raw stats suggest. The Wildcats sit 17th in success rate and 36th in adjusted EPA/play.

#6 Alabama vs. #14 Tennessee: College Football Upset Watch Today

Start Time: 3:30 p.m. ET | TV: ABC

Win Spread Total
ALA Crimson Tide 1.26x -7.5 | 1.85x o50.5x | 1.81x
TENN Volunteers 3.44x +7.5 | 1.88x u50.5 | 1.92x

Alabama took #2 Georgia to the final whistle last Saturday and if not for what appeared to be a missed pass interference call late, the Crimson Tide might still be undefeated and ranked in the top five.

Instead, the Tide take their frustrating loss to Knoxville to take on a tough Tennessee team.

Alabama may very well win this game, but Tennessee’s rushing attack against Alabama’s questionable defense is what could keep it close. The Volunteers average 228.3 rushing YPG (15th) and rank sixth in rushing success rate.

Georgia ran for 206 yards against Bama last week and controlled the ball for more than 33 minutes, including a 10-play, 84-yard drive that gave the Bulldogs the lead.

The other advantage the Volunteers have is in their pass rush vs. the Alabama line. The Vols average 4.0 sacks per game (second), while Alabama allows 2.7 each time out (116th).

Tennessee’s weakness is passing, where it's 110th in the nation and has injury concerns at QB after George MacIntyre started last week over the injured Faizon Brandon. Alabama struggled to get off the field vs. Georgia and will need to do so this week to beat the Volunteers.

The home team has won the last five meetings in this rivalry, including a Tennessee 24-17 win in Knoxville in 2024.
