Chargers vs. Seahawks Prediction, Spread, Over/Under - Sunday, October 4

One of the more surprising stories of the 2026 season has been the Los Angeles Chargers starting 0-3. The addition of Mike McDaniel as offensive coordinator to pair with QB Justin Herbert was viewed as one of the Chargers' most significant offseason moves, but it has not led to positive results.

The Chargers have lost all three games by a combined 32 points, the third-worst net margin in the NFL, only behind the Dolphins (-50) and Packers (-35).

The Los Angeles offense is near or at the bottom of every major category, per RBSDM.

  • 31st in EPA/play (-0.177)
  • 26th in success rate (40.8%)
  • 28th in dropback EPA/play (-0.095)
  • 30th in rush EPA/play (-0.302)
  • 23rd in early-down EPA/play (-0.079)
  • 29th in points per drive (1.29)
  • 26th in turnover rate (17.7%)
  • 32nd in third/fourth-down EPA/play (-0.525)

Through three games, Los Angeles is averaging 14.7 points per game, only ahead of the Titans, Dolphins, and Patriots. The only seasons in which the Chargers finished below 15.0 PPG were in 1975 (13.5) and 1973 (13.4). They won two games in both seasons.

The Seahawks' offense has had no such problems moving the ball, currently 10th in total yards (367.7) while ranking ninth in EPA/play (+0.053), points per drive (2.27), and success rate (46.8%). They have struggled running the ball, though, sitting 30th in rush EPA/play (-0.263), and rookie RB Jadarian Price was placed on injured reserve this week due to a chest injury.

On the defensive side, Seattle is allowing an NFL-low 3.83 yards per play. Further, the unit leads the in total defense (228.7 yards per game) and pass defense (141.7 yards per game). On the way to the Super Bowl title last year, the Seahawks were second in defensive yards per game play (4.45).

Since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970, only one team has started 0-4 and made the playoffs: the 1992 San Diego Chargers.
