Braylon Mullins 2026 NBA Mock Draft Prediction for UConn Star SG

One of the beauties of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is it allows some of the best teams and players to shine. Plenty of preexisting stars manage to stand out, but every year, a select group of talents become postseason legends.

There may not be a better example of that than UConn SG Braylon Mullins. Thanks to his heroic last-second shot in the Round of 8 vs. Duke, the Huskies’ National Championship aspirations are still alive. The improbable bucket also generated quite a bit of buzz surrounding Mullins’ 2026 NBA Draft stock.

Where could Mullins end up at the next level? Ahead of Saturday’s 6:09 p.m. ET tip-off for UConn vs. Illinois, let’s dive into a Braylon Mullins scouting report and 2026 NBA mock draft prediction, including some possible landing spots for the Huskies’ star SG.

Braylon Mullins Scouting Report: Breaking Down UConn's NCAA Tournament Star

There’s no denying that Mullins has played a significant role in UConn’s continued dominance. Across 31 games, the true freshman averages 11.9 points on 55.6% true shooting.

Down the stretch, Mullins has delivered a pair of huge performances for the Huskies. In a March 13 win over Georgetown in the Big East Tournament, he logged 21 points. In the Round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament, his 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting helped net a 16-point victory over UCLA.

Offensively, Mullins is undoubtedly an off-ball, complementary piece at this stage. He does a lot of his work off the catch and is a slippery off-ball mover who can hit tough shots on the run after maneuvering around the court and navigating through screens.

Don’t let a 32.8% 3-point mark fool you: the Indiana native is a top shooter for UConn. He fires up 13.9 3-pointers per 100 possessions and owns a 111.9 offensive rating, per Bart Torvik. An 88.6% free throw clip and a sparkling 62.2% efficiency from midrange, paired with impressive form, offset the underwhelming raw effectiveness from deep.

The jury is out on Mullins’ defense, to a degree. Respective steal and block rates of 2.2% and 2.7% hint at some upside, as does nice positional length at 6-foot-6. He lacks strength and rebounding chops, however.

If UConn is going to take down Illinois and then capture a National Championship in the following contest, Mullins may have to play a critical role once again.

Over on PrizePicks Team Picks, UConn returns a 2.08x payout to beat Illinois on Saturday and a 6.25x payout to win the NCAA Tournament.

Braylon Mullins 2026 NBA Mock Draft Prediction & Best Team Fits

It’s become increasingly clear that following the aforementioned thriller against the Blue Devils, Mullins’ stock is on the rise. The first-year man is popping up on more radars of fans and media alike with the 2026 NBA Draft two months and change away.

With that in mind, is there a potential range that makes sense for Mullins? That’s up for interpretation, but two consensus lists are doing their best to quantify it.

Rookie Scale’s big board sourced projections from popular outlets like ESPN, The Athletic, Bleacher Report, CBS, and more to gauge the current draft market. Mullins is the 17th-ranked prospect there. NBA Draft Network’s consensus big board from Brett Huff, following similar methodology and applying a mean, places him in the exact same spot.

There’s plenty of time for things to change, but Mullins could be looking at a draft range from late in the lottery to the end of the first round.

Braylon Mullins Best NBA Team Fits

Mullins’ as-is profile can serve as both a blessing and a curse regarding his prospective team fits.

On one hand, just about every NBA club could benefit from a floor-spacer with legitimate range and 99th-percentile (statistically speaking) touch from midrange. As a projected non-premium selection, such an environment could allow Mullins to slot into a defined role and impact winning basketball early.

On the flip side, there may be a cap on Mullins’ ceiling. In addition to being a very limited passer, he attacks the rim with little frequency (eighth percentile, per draftballr) and doesn’t get to the free throw line when he does (first percentile). With lackluster verticality or strength, there isn’t much reason to think that’d improve.

Aside from perimeter-based scoring and the occasional step inside the arc, there isn’t a ton that Mullins offers right now. Further development in his game must take place to justify being a lottery pick, in this writer’s estimation.

Using Tankathon’s current projections for each pick, shooting-hungry clubs like the Detroit Pistons (No. 21), Philadelphia 76ers (No. 22), Los Angeles Lakers (No. 26), and Dallas Mavericks (No. 30) might all be suitable destinations.
