Best College Football Anytime TD Scorer Picks – Saturday, October 10
With vital matchups ahead, teams are bound to find the end zone, making this a great opportunity to find players who could score.
Anytime TDs on PrizePicks include rushing, receiving, recoveries, and returns. PrizePicks often list player TDs as Demons and Goblins, meaning users can only select "More." For standard projections, users can select “More” or “Less.”
Demons are tougher to win but are the only way to get higher payouts. Meanwhile, Goblins are lower than a standard projection, but they are easier to win, so there is a lower payout.
All stats are via CFB Stats, PFF, and Games on Paper unless otherwise noted.
Maryland vs. #5 Ohio State Anytime TD Scorer Prediction – 4:15 p.m. ET
Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith: 1.5 Anytime TDs
The Buckeyes prove every week that they are among the best teams in the country. They have played only one bad quarter in five games, and unfortunately, it resulted in a loss to #1 Texas.
Last week, Ohio State faced its first ranked opponent since Texas: #14 Iowa. The Hawkeyes had allowed only 32 points through its first four games, and they gave up 31 to Ohio State.
Smith went off for 206 receiving yards and 2 TDs in that matchup. That’s a decrease from the 217 receiving yards and 4 TDs he had the previous week. Smith became just the second player in Big Ten history to have back-to-back 200-yard receiving games.
Smith is establishing himself as Ohio State's best wide receiver ever. He is now the program’s all-time leader in receptions (207), receiving yards (3,381), and touchdowns (36). He has 15 career games with 100+ receiving yards, tying him with former Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. for the most. Further, the former 5-star recruit is just 4 receiving TDs away from breaking former Michigan WR Braylon Edwards’ all-time Big Ten record (39).
This week, another favorable matchup is on tap against Maryland. The Terps rank in the 26th percentile in pass success rate allowed (43.7%) and the 21st percentile of passing TDs allowed (9).
Add Jeremiah Smith + Ohio State to win to your PrizePicks lineup now.
Arizona vs. West Virginia Anytime TD Scorer Prediction – 12:00 p.m. ET
West Virginia QB Michael Hawkins Jr.: 0.5 Anytime TDs (Goblin)
West Virginia may not be a national championship contender, but it is a lot of fun to watch. The Mountaineers rank in the 82nd percentile for points per game (37.4), and according to Fourth and Short, they sit in the 68th percentile in explosiveness rating (1.29).
They have to go scorched-earth on offense because this defense is one of the worst in the country, ranking in the 20th percentile for points allowed per game (28.8) and the first percentile for EPA allowed per play (+0.26).
That makes Hawkins a highlight reel every week. He’s not only one of the best running quarterbacks in the country but also one of the best runners overall. He’s fourth in the nation in rushing yards (614) and forced missed tackles (32), while ranking fifth in yards after contact (420).
His elusiveness and aggressive running style make him one of the nation’s most dangerous quarterbacks.
He has the chance to show that off against Arizona. The Wildcats rank in the 35th percentile in EPA allowed per rush (+0.08) and the 15th percentile in rush explosiveness allowed (1.11).
Quarterbacks have excelled on the ground against Arizona, scoring a TD in four straight games.
Add Michael Hawkins Jr. + West Virginia to win to your PrizePicks lineup now.
#15 Tennessee vs. Arkansas Anytime TD Scorer Prediction – 4:15 p.m. ET
Tennessee RB DeSean Bishop: 0.5 Anytime TDs (Goblin)
Tennessee may feel confident about its playoff chances this season. It is 4-1, and in its lone loss, it nearly pulled off an upset over #1 Texas. It has two more games against ranked opponents (#6 Alabama and #10 LSU), but the schedule is manageable. If it can win even one of those games against the Crimson Tide or the Tigers, the Volunteers have a shot at the SEC Championship game.
Rarely can a football team throw for under 100 yards and still win by more than one possession; Tennessee accomplished that. In its last matchup against Auburn, Tennessee threw for 86 yards and won 24-14.
That victory came largely on Bishop's back, as he rushed for 220 yards and 3 TDs against the Tigers. That performance helped Bishop reach 12th nationally in rushing yards (540) and sixth in rushing TDs (7).
Bishop won’t always get 34 carries as he did against Auburn, but Tennessee feels confident feeding him the ball every week, as he’s had at least 14 carries in 10 of his last 13 games dating back to last season.
This week, Bishop faces a team he knows well and has succeeded against. Last year vs. Arkansas, he ran for a season-high 146 yards and 1 TD.
This matchup could be another huge game for Bishop, with the Razorbacks having one of the worst run defenses in the country. They rank in the first percentile in EPA allowed per rush (+0.23) and have allowed the most rushing TDs (15).
Add DeSean Bishop + Tennessee to win to your PrizePicks lineup now.
