Belgium vs. Iran Prediction, Spread, Over/Under — June 21, 2026

How to watch Belgium vs. Iran: FS1 and FOX One (English) | Telemundo & Peacock (Spanish)

Kickoff Time: 3 p.m. ET

Venue: SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California (Los Angeles Stadium)

Group: Group G

Belgium were fortunate to get a point off Egypt, who should’ve been two or three goals clear before Romelu Lukaku entered the match. His presence forced an own goal just seconds after his introduction, and Belgium were able to come away with a point.

They won’t be able to rely on their playmaking winger Jérémy Doku on Sunday, who was officially ruled out yesterday due to a respiratory issue and will not be available even as a substitute. It robs them of a player whose 21 runs in-behind Egypt’s back line led all Belgian players.

ST Romelu Lukaku is also likely to be a substitute as well. Manager Rudi Garcia indicated on Saturday that the big man is needed for the later rounds and isn’t fit yet to go more than 60 minutes.

However, Belgium must find points if they hope to reach those later rounds. The loss of Doku isn’t something they can’t overcome, but his absence allows Iran to approach this match in an entirely different manner.

Iran’s defense is sub-par to put it nicely, as they allowed New Zealand to put 8 of 14 shots on target with 71.43% of those efforts coming inside the penalty area

Belgium’s midfield should absolutely boss proceedings. Kevin De Bruyne, Youri Tielemans, and Amadou Onana are better than anybody Iran will start. It will likely be on them to generate scoring opportunities with Doku unavailable. De Bruyne attempted 4 shots against Egypt, but created just 2 chances and notched 0.12 xA.

LW Leandro Trossard will also have to step up. His 3 chances created vs. Egypt were tied for the most among all players, but all 3 of his shots were blocked, and he lost the ball four times. Doku’s absence means a shift back to his natural left side should help him make more of an impact.

Iranian CM Saman Ghoddos came off with an ankle injury vs. New Zealand, but all indications are that he should be OK, which provides them a massive boost in the middle of the pitch.

Where Iran can hurt Belgium is on the counter-attack. ST Mehdi Taremi is dangerous in the air and can hold the ball up well, allowing teammates to join in and put pressure on Belgium the way Egypt did repeatedly.

Belgium will look to control the match via its midfield strength, pin Iran back, and find a way through without Doku. Iran will hope to sprint Taremi loose and perhaps find him on a set piece, while taking advantage of Belgium’s issues at the striker position.

Belgium vs. Iran Prediction on Spread for World Cup 2026

Here are the key stats and trends for Belgium vs. Iran before making your World Cup 2026 predictions on PrizePicks.

  • Iran managed 17 shots vs. New Zealand, but put just 4 of those efforts on target. That led to 2 goals from 1.50 xG.
  • Iran allowed 2 goals from just 1.24 xG, but also gave up 14 shots with 8 SOT. Their GK had a negative goals-denied mark despite the volume of saves.
  • Belgium are unbeaten in their last 14 matches, but five of those matches have been draws finishing either 0-0 or 1-1.
  • Iran have not lost by multiple goals in 43 matches, a stretch dating back to a 6-2 defeat to England in World Cup 2022.
  • Belgium have won by multiple goals in just seven of their last 13 matches.
  • The absence of Doku robs Belgium of their most impactful wide player and their most dangerous dribbler. This could allow Iran to stay much more compact and frustrate a Belgian side that isn’t getting consistent attacking threat from Charles De Ketelaere at the striker role.
  • Belgium are prone to getting hurt on the counter-attack. Egypt should have scored more goals, and the absence of Doku could lead them to pushing the fullbacks up — leaving their slower, aging central defenders on an island when they lose possession.

Belgium vs. Iran Picks, Player Stats for World Cup: 6/21/26

Here are the top Belgium vs. Iran player picks to target on PrizePicks for Sunday, June 21. Today’s World Cup 2026 picks are headlined by Leandro Trossard and Alireza Beiranvand.

Belgium LW Leandro Trossard Pick vs. Iran: 2.5 Shots

  • Leandro Trossard attempted 3 shots for Belgium in the 1-1 draw with Egypt, despite playing on the right in a less-natural position.
  • Two of Trossard’s shots came from outside the box, and all 3 efforts were blocked by the compact Egypt back line.
  • Trossard’s 60 touches were the most of Belgium’s forwards in the match, and his 5 touches inside the penalty area were second-most on the team behind only Doku.
  • Doku’s absence means Trossard is likely to operate in his preferred spot on the left. It also provides more touch opportunities, with the right-footed player being able to cut inside onto his stronger foot.
  • The 2 goals Iran conceded both came from New Zealand LW Elijah Just, who scored on both his attempted shots.

Iran GK Alireza Beiranvand Pick vs. Belgium: 3.5 Goalie Saves

  • Alireza Beiranvand made 6 saves on 8 SOT in Iran’s draw with New Zealand.
  • Those 8 SOT conceded to New Zealand are tied for the fourth-most of any nation on average so far in the tournament.
  • Belgium attempted 15 shots in their draw with Egypt, putting 3 shots on target. They also managed 31 touches inside the penalty area.
  • Doku’s absence from the squad means Belgium will have less of a penetrative option against the Iranian defense. This typically lends itself to more shots from range, which are often easier to keep out.
