Georgia holds a 66-56-8 advantage all-time over Auburn in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. The Bulldogs scored 17 unanswered second-half points to claim a 20-10 win last season on the plains against the Tigers.

That win extended Georgia’s winning streak over Auburn to nine, tied for the longest by either team in the rivalry. The Tigers haven’t beaten the Bulldogs since Nov. 11, 2017 and haven’t defeated Georgia between the hedges since Nov. 12, 2005.

It’s also been 17 years since Auburn so much as scored 14 points in Athens.

This year’s Auburn side has been somewhat offensive on offense, and not in the way you’d hope. QB Byrum Brown has just 1,055 yards and 7 TDs passing to go along with 7 INTs.

He’s been getting more work done with his legs. He rushed for 107 yards and a TD against Tennessee, producing a rushing score in four of his five games. That’s helped the Tigers post an explosive run rate that ranks in the 93rd percentile and a rush EPA/play mark that ranks 31st, according to Game on Paper.

Aside from that, the offense has struggled. The Tigers rank 105th in EPA/pass and have often fallen behind the chains, ranking 96th in early-down EPA/play.

Defensively, Auburn’s been average, holding opponents to -0.05 EPA/pass but being 70th in EPA/rush and 79th in success rate. The Tigers also enter Saturday's game without star LB Xavier Atkins, who was suspended early this week.

Georgia has one of the best teams in the country on both sides of the ball. The Bulldogs sit third in net adjusted EPA/play on offense, with QB Gunner Stockton posting a 14 TD to 2 INT ratio.

The Bulldogs wear opponents down with a stable of backs, with Dwight Phillips Jr., Nate Frazier, and Bo Walker all having 200+ yards while averaging at least 6.8 yards per carry. Frazier missed the Alabama game but is expected to return for this one.

Defensively, the Dawgs have held opponents to just 33.9% of available yards and rank eighth in rushing success rate. They rely on early success, slotting into the 91st percentile in early-down EPA/play. That’s forced their opponents into the seventh-worst yards-to-go on third down.

Auburn vs. Georgia Prediction on Spread – 10/17/26

Here are the key stats and trends behind our Auburn vs. Georgia pick against the spread for Saturday, October 17.

  • Auburn’s offensive struggles rest heavily on the shoulders of Brown. He’s averaged just 5.0 yards per attempt through the air over the past two games with a meager 6.3 average depth of target, per PFF.
  • Georgia’s defense ranks in the 86th percentile in yards allowed per dropback, and its pass rush ranked 19th in PFF’s grading system. That’s particularly troublesome for Byrum, who's completing just 45.5% of his throws when pressured.
  • Auburn’s defense has already allowed 16 runs of 10+ yards to SEC opponents through just three games. That’s the fourth-most in the conference despite Kentucky and Texas A&M each having played an additional contest. That’s a key reason the Tigers are in the 35th percentile in explosive run rate against.
  • That's a huge flaw when facing a Georgia offense that leads the SEC with 19 such runs in conference outings. The Bulldogs also have five runs of 30+ yards and three of 40+, most in SEC play.
  • That said, the Bulldogs don’t need explosive plays to move the chains. Georgia ranks in the 93rd percentile in EPA on non-explosive plays, which is why it's ninth in late-down success.
  • Auburn had 13 possessions against Tennessee, with just two leading to the Tigers gaining more than 32 yards. One of their two TD series started inside the Tennessee red zone. That’s after seven of 10 possessions vs. Vanderbilt gained fewer than 30 yards.
