Let’s take a look at the NFL Playoff field to set the stage, as Wild Card Weekend gets underway with six exciting games.

  • Seven of the eight divisions have new champions, with only the Eagles repeating in the NFC East, which last had a repeat champion in 2004.
  • Both No. 1 seeds — Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks — have had their coaches — Sean Payton and Mike Macdonald — for just two years.
  • Two rookie head coaches are hosting playoff games: Liam Coen in Jacksonville and Ben Johnson in Chicago.
  • Four 12-win teams are playing road playoff games in the Wild Card Round (Texans, 49ers, Bills, Rams), with three of them having better records than their opponents, due to NFL Playoff seeding.
  • For only the second time since 2012, the AFC QB in the Super Bowl will not be Patrick Mahomes, Peyton Manning, or Tom Brady (Joe Burrow went in 2021).

2026 Super Bowl Futures, Payouts to Win

#3: Houston Texans (12-5)

Texans to Win Super Bowl LX Payout via PrizePicks Team Picks: 10x Yes | 1.03x No

Nothing against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who were listed in this No. 3 spot each of the last two weeks. They continue to win, finishing with eight straight wins and the AFC South title. So why are the Houston Texans, a team that didn’t win the AFC South, listed in this spot, ahead of the Jaguars?

Simply put, the Texans have an easier Wild Card matchup.

While the Jaguars are hosting Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, the Texans — winners of nine straight and 12 of 14 to end the season — get to face the 9-8 Pittsburgh Steelers. In a wide-open AFC, every matchup matters, and the Texans have one that supports a Super Bowl run.

The defense finished the regular season leading the league in yards allowed (277.2 per game) and second to Seattle in scoring (17.4 PPG). Taking the Week 18 game out, the Texans haven’t allowed more than 21 points since Week 10 to the Jags.

The offense has been the question for Houston, but they have been much improved of late, gaining 350+ yards in four of the last six games with the postseason on the line.

They’ve also scored 20+ in each of the last seven games after not doing so in four of the first six games.

They start the postseason against a Steelers team that needed a missed FG to make the postseason and finish over .500 on the season.

With a win in Pittsburgh, Houston would face either a team with a 2nd-year QB (Denver or New England) or a Jacksonville team they are very familiar with.

No team enters the postseason hotter than Houston, which has two losses since Week 3, both by one possession, to the one seeds in the AFC and NFC.

The Jags have wins over the Texans, Panthers, Niners, Chargers, Colts (x2), and Broncos this season and are in a prime position to go far in the postseason. The 22x price is gone on Texans Super Bowl future, but the 10x return is still there entering the playoffs.

#2: Los Angeles Rams (12-5)

Rams to Win Super Bowl LX Payout via PrizePicks Team Picks: 4.76x Yes | 1.14x No

Some will point out the Rams are 3-3 in their last six games. Others will point out that the Rams are the only team in the top 5 in both offensive and defensive DOVA (per FTN). Well, both are true.

However, this is a team that lost five games this season by a combined 17 points, with at least a share of the lead in the 4th quarter in all five games. But they also found ways to lose those games:

  • A game-winning blocked FG returned for a TD
  • Two OT losses to division rivals, including blowing a 16-point lead
  • Allowed a 43-yard TD to a rookie WR
  • Fell behind 21-0 in the first half to a non-playoff team

The Rams have plenty of quality wins over both Seattle and San Francisco this year, along with Detroit, Houston, Jacksonville, Indianapolis, and Tampa Bay — all of whom are currently either in the playoff field or just missed the postseason.

Led by NFL MVP favorite Matthew Stafford and Offensive Player of the Year candidate Puka Nacua, the Rams' offense finished the season leading in scoring (30.5 PPG), total yards (394.6 yards per game), yards per play (6.18), and passing (268.1 yards per game).

Stafford finished his MVP campaign as the NFL’s leading passer in TDs (46) and yards (4,707). His 109.1 passer rating was second-best, behind New England’s Drake Maye.

On the defensive side, the Rams only allow 20.4 PPG, 10th-best in the NFL.

Head coach Sean McVay already has a Super Bowl ring (2022) and almost led the Rams to an upset of the eventual Super Bowl Champion Eagles in the Divisional Round last year.

They start the postseason on the road, but are 10.5-point favorites vs. a Carolina Panthers team that was 8-9 on the season. A possible rematch with a Seahawks team they beat once and lost in OT the second time could be on deck in the Divisional Round.

#1: Seattle Seahawks (14-3)

Seahawks to Win Super Bowl LX Payout via PrizePicks Team Picks: 4.16x Yes | 1.2x No

Not many would’ve had the Seattle Seahawks emerge from the NFC West and grab the top seed in the NFC. Here we are at the end of the regular season, and the Seahawks have a first-round bye.

And they did it impressively. First, rallying from 16 down in the fourth quarter to knock off the Rams in OT; then getting a win vs. San Francisco on the road, holding the 49ers to just three points — one week after they scored 42.

Now, the path to the Super Bowl in the NFC goes through the Emerald City.

The Seahawks have the top defense per DVOA, lead the NFL in rush yards per play allowed (3.7), scoring defense (17.2 PPG allowed), rank second in pass yards per play allowed (5.5), and lead the NFL in total yards per play (4.56).

Winning 11 of the last 12 games, Seattle has allowed more than 25 points just once, in the 36-30 win three weeks ago over the Rams.

Their offense is almost as good, scoring 25+ points in eight of the last 11 games and 11 times this season. Seattle is now third in the NFL, behind the Rams and Patriots, at 28.4 points per game.

Seahawks QB Sam Darnold continues the resurrection of his career, a year after being an MVP candidate for the Vikings. His 99.1 passer rating is eighth in the NFL, and he finished the regular season with 4,048 yards, fifth among starting QBs.

The Seahawks have the No. 1 seed for the fourth time in franchise history. They made the Super Bowl in each of the other three instances. Could this year be the fourth?
