Week 3 Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Verdict: Start Jameson Williams
Not only will Williams be at home on Sunday, but he also has a great matchup against the Jets. Last season, the Jets allowed the most passing TDs (36) in the league and were also last in dropback EPA/play allowed, according to RBSDM.
Not helping their cause for this game is that S Minkah Fitzpatrick (groin) could be out again after missing Week 2.
Wilson has a more difficult matchup against the 49ers, who have given up only 1 passing TD this year. They've also held opposing QBs to a 60.8% completion rate. It helped that they played Dolphins QB Malik Willis in Week 2, but they also performed well against Rams QB Matthew Stafford in Week 1.
In that contest, the reigning MVP was held to 155 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT. He only completed 60.0% of his pass attempts.
Williams has a favorable matchup against a visiting Jets squad that's dealing with injuries and struggles to defend the pass even when healthy. Although Wilson seems to have surpassed Harrison in the pecking order, the 49ers' stout defense could leave him with a muted stat line for the second straight week.
That makes Williams the more appealing option for fantasy purposes.
