Is the Cheetah still a cheetah? Maybe.
All Miami Dolphins fans and some fantasy owners have lived in a state of anxiety ever since WR Tyreek Hill tweaked his oblique during training camp. The injury lingered for the entire preseason, sidelining the 31-year-old speedster.
But as Week 1 of the NFL season approaches, there’s finally some good news out of Miami — and it comes straight from HC Mike McDaniel’s lips.

Will Tyreek Hill Play in Week 1?
As of this writing, it appears Hill will suit up this Sunday when the Dolphins hit Indianapolis. McDaniel confirmed Hill’s recovery is on track, and insiders report Hill returned to practice at the end of August.
The Dolphins didn’t place Hill on the PUP list, and barring a gametime setback, fantasy GMs can exhale.
Tyreek Hill Fantasy Football Outlook
Unlike during his Kansas City Chiefs heyday, the man they call Cheetah is no longer worthy of a first-round pick in fantasy football drafts, as borne out by the fact that his current ADP is 31 (WR13) according to FantasyPros. His fantasy slide is, in part, a result of the uncertainty surrounding Miami’s offense, QB Tua Tagovailoa’s health, and Father Time.
Hill is coming off a “down” 2024 by his outrageous standards — we're talking 959 yards and 6 TDs over 17 games. Some of the decline stems from Tagovailoa’s absence, some from the locker room drama, and some from the wrist injury he dealt with most of the season.
Should managers expect more averageness from the (potential) future Hall of Famer? Not necessarily.
With Tua reportedly healthy, Hill could bounce back — especially if Miami’s deep passing game reignites. And even a slightly slower Tyreek remains a matchup nightmare, giving him WR2 value with the potential of WR1 upside.
His PrizePicks NFLSZN projections have him finishing the 2025 season with approximately 80.5 receptions, 974.5 yards, and 7 TDs.
Tyreek Hill Week 1 Projections

- 0.5 Rush Rush+Rec TDs
- 0.5 Rush Yards
- 72.5 Receiving Yards
- 5.5 Receptions
- 15.5 Fantasy Score
- 8.5 Rec Targets
- 23.5 Longest Reception
Hill is still a key component of Miami’s offense — just maybe not as key as he would've been in his 20s. That fact that fellow WR Jaylen Waddle is hitting his prime and could thus steal a significant number of targets makes things more complicated in fantasyland.
That said, if Hill takes the field for Miami's Week 1 contest (and, as noted, all signs point to yes), plug him into your lineup with confidence and hope for fireworks.
