Bengals WR Tee Higgins looks back as the passer during his route vs. the Patriots.

Week 4 quickly turned into a disaster for the Bengals, as WRs Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins each suffered an injury. After Chase sustained a concussion in the first half, Higgins shined with 11 catches and 157 receiving yards in the 22-17 loss vs. the Jaguars, but his outing was cut short due to an adductor injury.

Higgins’ 401 receiving yards has been arguably his best start to a season across his seven-season career. However, he’s now in danger of missing time due to injury.

Let’s look at the latest Tee Higgins injury update and if he could play in Week 5 vs. the Dolphins. Plus, we’ll look at how Higgins’ and Ja’Marr Chase’s status impact fantasy football and picks for PrizePicks.

Tee Higgins Injury Update: Will Higgins Play This Week?

Losing Ja’Marr Chase, one of football’s best wide receivers, was a brutal loss for the Bengals. But Tee Higgins’ excellent start to 2026 provides some comfort. The nightmare only got worse, with both of Cincinnati’s top targets now dealing with injuries.

As mentioned, Higgins attempted to return from his adductor (groin) injury but could not finish the contest. That suggests this shouldn’t be a long-term injury, further emphasized by head coach Zach Taylor labeling Higgins as day-to-day.

Injuries have been an issue for Higgins throughout his career, including 12 games played in 2023 and 2024. His 15 games played last season were his most since 16 in 2022.

If he misses more time, this would be a brutal blow for a Bengals offense that’s having a slow start, as seen by 24.3 PPG (14th) and a 44.7% success rate (14th), per RBSDM.

Higgins’ current 100.3 receiving yards per game would easily surpass his 77.9 per-game career high from 2021. Furthermore, Pro Football Focus gives Tee an excellent 2.80 yards per route run that ranks eight among WRs with at least 15 targets this season.

This elite efficiency has led to an elevated role with 9.8 targets per game, once again surpassing his career high of 9.1 per game in 2024.

If the Bengals’ beat-up receiving corps has absences in Week 5, who could step up for fantasy football and picks on PrizePicks?

Bengals Fantasy Football Outlook If Tee Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase Are Out

Alongside Chase and Higgins, Bengals WR Andrei Iosivas is on injured reserve, and WR Colbie Young (knee) was out in Week 4.

By the end of Sunday’s loss vs. the Jaguars, this receiving unit was bare bones, with WRs Dohnte Meyers and Mitchell Tinsley leading the way.

Meyers, who is in his first NFL season after playing in the CFL, totaled 9 targets, 7 catches, and 82 receiving yards. Meanwhile, Tinsley recorded 7 targets, 3 receptions, and 49 receiving yards.

In Week 3, Meyers had 25 pass snaps behind Chase (41) and Higgins (39). When the Bengals are in 11 personnel, Meyers is already enjoying a regular role thanks to a 46.9% slot snap rate.

After Chase took only 11 pass snaps in Week 4, Higgins (50), Meyers (58), and Tinlsey (33) led in pass snaps. If Higgins or Chase misses time, Meyers is immediately a priority for the waiver wire and could produce for player picks.

In addition to Meyers, TE Mike Gesicki has scored a touchdown in all three appearances this season, recording 5.0 targets, 3.7 receptions, and 51.7 receiving yards per game.

Week 5 also features a favorable matchup vs. the Dolphins, who give up 25.3 PPG (21st), 5.7 yards per play (22nd), and 8.3 yards per passing attempt (29th). Miami concedes a 51.5% dropback success rate (28th), potentially fueling a good day for Bengals QB Joe Burrow — who sports a 48.9% success rate (13th).
