  • San Francisco has the most appearances in any Conference title game, with 19.

  • In NFC Championship history, the NFC East has the most wins (23) and the best win percentage (.657)
  • The Lions are the only NFC team without a Conference Championship win (0-2) and the only team that has never hosted an NFC title game.
  • The most points scored in an NFC Championship is 55, by the Eagles, last year over the Commanders.
  • The ‘78 Rams, ‘79 Bucs, ‘84 Bears, ‘85 Rams, ‘86 Washington, and ‘00 Vikings were all shut out.

NFC Championship Game Trends

Sunday marks the 56th NFC Championship game and the fourth hosted by the city of Seattle. Let’s check out other NFC Championship Game trends.

  • The home team is 37-18 in NFC Championship games, which includes wins in each of the last four NFC title contests.
  • A team from the NFC West is 19-20 all-time in the NFC title game, with the 49ers earning eight of those wins, the Rams five, Seattle three, and the Cardinals, Panthers, and Falcons one each (Falcons and Panthers were originally in the NFC West).
  • Sunday marks the ninth time division rivals have met in the NFC Championship game. The first four involved the NFC East. This is the fourth time it’s been between NFC West teams, with the previous ones following the 1989, 2013, and 2021 seasons.
  • The favorite has covered in 31 of 55 NFC Championship Games, but the last 22 years have been 11 favorites and 11 underdogs.

Rams vs. Seahawks Team Trends for NFC Championship

The Rams and Seahawks franchises have combined for eight Super Bowl appearances, three Super Bowl titles, and 16 NFC Championship Game appearances. The Seahawks also made an AFC Championship appearance in 1983.

Los Angeles Rams Team Trends

  • The Rams will be playing in their 12th NFC Championship game, 10 of which came while they were the L.A. Rams. The franchise played in two NFC title games while in St. Louis, going 2-0.
  • Los Angeles is 5-6 in NFC Championship games, tied for the third-most wins behind the 49ers and Cowboys.
  • This will mark the Rams’ seventh championship game on the road, where they are 2-4. The two road wins came following the 2018 season in New Orleans and following the 1979 season in Tampa.
  • The Rams led the NFL in scoring (30.5 PPG), total offense (394.6 yards per game), and passing offense (268.1 yards per game). In the two playoff wins, the Rams averaged 27 points and 375.5 total yards.
  • Per FTN’s DVOA, the Rams offense finished first, and the defense finished fourth, the only team to have both units in the top five.
  • The Rams finished the regular season 12-5 against the spread, tied with the Seahawks and Jaguars for the best ATS record. They failed to cover either playoff game, both as road favorites.
  • Sunday’s game will mark only the third contest all season in which the Rams are an underdog. They did not cover in Philadelphia due to the walk-off blocked FG TD, but did cover in Seattle in a one-point OT loss.

Seattle Seahawks Team Trends

  • The Seahawks are playing in their fourth NFC championship game, having won the previous three.
  • Seattle and the New York Giants (5-0) are the only teams that have not lost an NFC title game.
  • However, the Seahawks, who were in the AFC from 1977 to 2001, did lose an AFC title game in L.A. against the Raiders, following the 1983 season.
  • The three Seattle NFC title game wins were following the 2005 season vs. Carolina, the 2014 season vs. San Francisco, and the 2015 season vs. Green Bay.
  • The Seahawks finished the regular season first in the league in scoring defense (17.2 PPG), sixth in total defense (285.9 YPG), third in rushing (91.9), and second in pass yards per play (5.5). They were the top-ranked defense, per DVOA.
  • On the offensive side, Seattle finished third in scoring (28.4 PPG), eighth in total offense (351.4), eighth in passing (228.1), 10th in rushing (123.3), and 10th in DVOA.
  • The Seahawks finished the regular season 12-5 against the spread, tied with the Rams and Jaguars for the best ATS record.
  • Seattle was 10-4 against the spread this season as a favorite. The 10 covers were one less than the rival Rams for most as a favorite. They also covered last week vs. San Francisco.
