Browns Trade Myles Garrett to Rams for Jared Verse, Picks

Schefter initially reported Los Angeles would send its 2027 first-round pick and more in the trade. We are still waiting on official details for all picks involved in the trade. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Tom Pelissero, and Ian Rapoport, Cleveland is expected to get “long-term value” and “significant draft pick compensation” in the trade.

The Browns got younger in the trade, as EDGE Jared Verse is entering his third season and turns 26 in November. Verse’s career is off to a terrific start, as he won Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2024 and has earned Pro Bowl honors in both of his campaigns.

Meanwhile, EDGE Myles Garrett turns 31 in December. Garrett is a generational player, as perhaps the current best player in the NFL. Over nine seasons, he’s earned seven Pro Bowl honors, appeared on five All-Pro teams, and won Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 and 2025.

Moving a player of Garrett’s caliber has a significant impact on both franchises. Let’s look at how the Myles Garrett trade may impact the Rams and Browns’ upcoming 2026 seasons.

How Does Myles Garrett Trade Impact Rams, Browns?

According to Kalshi, the Rams’ chance of winning the Super Bowl spiked from 11% to 16% following the Myles Garrett trade.

Los Angeles was already the Super Bowl 61 favorite before the trade and currently has the lowest payout to win the 2027 Super Bowl (5.26x), followed by the Seahawks at 8.33x.

The Browns are likely headed for another “rebuilding” season, with a 3.84x payout for ‘Yes’ to make the NFL Playoffs in the 2026 season. Furthermore, Cleveland has the highest payout to win the AFC North in 2026 (6.66x).

Garrett just set the single-season sack record with 23.0 sacks in the 2025 season. Pro Football Focus also credited the two-time DPOY with 84 pressures, a 92.7 player grade, and a 93.3 pass rush grade last season.

Verse still gives the Browns a quality rusher, proven by 8.0 and 9.0 sacks in his first two NFL seasons. Plus, he totaled 100 pressures over 20 games in 2025.

However, Garrett remains a clear step up from Verse. In fact, PFF gave Garrett the second-highest pass rush win rate (24.6%) among qualifying edge rushers last season. Verse finished with a much lower 16.1% win rate.

Keep in mind, this was with Garrett drawing the second-highest double-team rate among edge rushers (59.1%) in the 2025 season.

The Browns opted for more draft picks to build for the future, while the Rams are all in on their Super Bowl window. Football’s best defensive player now calls Los Angeles home.
