Mike Evans Injury Update: Will Evans Play This Week?

In Week 3, Evans suffered broken ribs stemming from a hit from Cardinals S Budda Baker. Evans left the game in the second quarter and didn’t return.

Evans played through the injury against the Broncos in Week 4, hauling in 5 passes for 76 yards on a team-high 8 targets. However, Evans didn’t practice in an official capacity Thursday but was seen running on a side field in his full uniform.

On Wednesday, Evans logged a limited practice, but his status remains unclear ahead of Sunday’s contest against the Seahawks.

With the 49ers already being without WRs DeMarcus Robinson, Ricky Pearsall, and De’Zhaun Stribling, Evans’ presence in the passing game is paramount to the team’s success.

Friday’s practice will go a long way toward determining Evans’ availability for Week 5 against the Seahawks. If he misses Sunday’s contest, how does that affect fantasy football and picks for PrizePicks?

49ers Fantasy Football Outlook If Mike Evans Is Out

At 33 years old, Evans may not be valued as a WR1 in fantasy football, but he’s still an important asset. According to FantasyPros, Evans had a WR30 average draft position (ADP) in PPR leagues this year and can still be a strong fantasy asset.

Evans has caught a team-high 17 passes for 213 yards and 2 TDs in four games this season. His Week 4 performance was the most productive of the young season, despite failing to get into the end zone. It also marked his third game of at least 5 receptions in 2026.

Evans couldn’t finish the first half in his Week 3 contest against the Cardinals, logging 3 receptions for 34 yards. Still, according to PlayerProfiler, Evans has tallied a 31.2% target rate (sixth among WRs) and has averaged 16.1 fantasy points per game this season.

If Evans can’t suit up for Sunday’s matchup, WR Deebo Samuel could benefit the most from the veteran WR’s absence. Samuel has made plays in the open field thus far, registering 70 yards after the catch (23rd).

Week 5 will be a difficult matchup against the Seahawks, who allow just 18.3 PPG (fifth), -0.103 EPA per play (fourth), and a 37.5% success rate (second), according to RBSDM. Meanwhile, the 49ers have proven to be one of the league’s most electric offenses, tallying 0.274 EPA per play (first), a 54.1% success rate (first), and a 0.539 dropback EPA.

The Seahawks surrender a 42.1% dropback success rate (sixth) and have yielded a league-low 144.8 passing yards per game. QB Brock Purdy owns a 125.9 passer rating (16th) when targeting Evans this season, according to Pro Football Focus.
