Jeremiyah Love Injury Update: Cardinals RB Set to Miss Week 6

On Friday, Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur said Love would miss the team’s Week 6 contest. LaFleur added that Love “wasn’t improving” throughout the week, but the team isn’t considering placing Love on injured reserve.

Love didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday, ultimately leading to him being ruled out.

He's dealt with this lingering ankle injury since the preseason. The former Notre Dame standout rushed for 58 yards in his preseason debut against the Las Vegas Raiders but was forced to leave the game with the ankle injury.

In Week 3, Love had his most productive rookie performance, rushing for 90 yards on 21 carries against the San Francisco 49ers. However, Love’s ankle has continued to affect him, and he was limited to just 12 carries for 22 yards against the Detroit Lions last week.

With Love missing Sunday’s Week 6 game, how does that impact fantasy football and Cardinals picks for PrizePicks?

Cardinals, Tyler Allgeier Fantasy Football Outlook With Love Out

With Love officially sidelined, the Cardinals will turn to backup RB Tyler Allgeier to carry most of the load in the backfield. RB Bam Knight should also receive some carries for the Cardinals.

Allgeier has shared the rushing work with Love, totaling 35 carries for 119 yards and a TD, including 40+ yards in two of Arizona’s games. Additionally, the veteran RB has caught 12 passes for 44 yards out of the backfield.

According to PlayerProfiler, Allgeier registered a 50.0% snap share when Love was in the lineup, ranking 27th among qualifying RBs. The BYU product also recorded 0.73 fantasy points per opportunity (34th).

The Cardinals have produced 24.4 rushing attempts per game this season (23rd). In Week 1, Allgeier actually received more carries (17) than Love (11) and registered 61 rushing yards in a 26-14 win against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Week 6 offers an intriguing matchup against the Rams, who have been vulnerable against the run. The Rams have surrendered 128.4 rushing yards per contest (26th) and a -0.123 rush EPA (13th), per RBSDM.

In Week 5, the Rams allowed the Bills to rush for 234 yards and 6.3 yards per carry. QB Josh Allen tallied 121 rushing yards and a TD, while RB James Cook added 111 yards and 2 TDs on the ground.
