Since taking down the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1, it’s been tough sledding for the Arizona Cardinals. The club has lost each of its last three contests by a combined 42 points, and the prize of its 2026 NFL Draft haul also seems to be a bit banged up.
RB Jeremiyah Love appears to be nursing a nagging ankle injury of sorts, which led to him being limited in practice on multiple occasions this week. Is the former Notre Dame superstar in any danger of missing Week 5 as a result?
We’ll outline the latest Jeremiyah Love injury update and its potential impact on Cardinals fantasy football picks and projections for PrizePicks.

Jeremiyah Love Injury Update: Will Love Play in Week 5?
Fortunately for the Cardinals faithful, the team doesn’t seem to be too concerned about Love’s ankle. He went from being limited on Wednesday and Thursday to fully participating in Friday’s practice to close out the week.
The first-round NFL Draft pick says he’s “still going full-go” at practice and chalks up any in-week limitations to maintenance. That’s been corroborated by head coach Mike LaFleur, who doubled down on the maintenance label earlier this week.
Love should be good to go on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
Many wondered if Love got dinged up in Week 4’s loss to the New York Giants, especially with him only getting 11 snaps in the second half. He wound up with 30 offensive reps (45% of those available) to 36 for veteran Tyler Allgeier (55%), adding fuel to the fire.
The 21-year-old was spotted getting his right ankle worked on by a trainer, although he shot down any notion of an injury.
In four games, Love has racked up 223 rushing yards and a TD on 55 attempts while also adding 11 receptions for 36 yards and another score. He came into the regular season rehabbing from a high-ankle sprain, but that was to the opposite ankle that’s the focus now.
At the very least, Love’s involvement this Sunday (4:25 p.m. ET) is worth keeping an eye on.
Cardinals Fantasy Football Outlook & Assessing Love’s Split With Allgeier
Regardless of whether Love is closer to 100% than not, it seems that the Cardinals will put him in a workload share with Allgeier. With Bam Knight being a distant third RB on the depth chart, it’s a clear two-man show in the backfield down in the desert. Would that yield good results?
Love has been the more efficient option to this point. According to SumerSports, he’s notched -0.02 EPA per rush attempt in 2026 to Allgeier’s -0.15. Not only that, but his 47.27% success rate clears his peer’s 31.25% mark by quite a bit. The latter figure ranks 42nd out of 46 RBs with at least 25 carries in the season’s first four weeks.
Down in the red zone, Love has received 50% of available team rushing attempts, per 4for4, with 10. Allgeier has accounted for 6 (30%). Even with the downtick in snaps late in Week 4, Love still finished with a 50% overall involvement clip and got 54% of total rushing tries. Facing a Lions defense that ranks fourth-worst in rush EPA/play (0.025, RBSDM) could prove beneficial.
The same edge applies to the passing game, too. It’s obvious that TE Trey McBride and WR Michael Wilson are the go-to targets for QB Jacoby Brissett, but Love is no slouch. In fact, via Pro Football Focus, Brissett’s highest passer rating (106.9) manifests when throwing to Love.
On an offense that’s now in the middle of the pack in pass rate over expected (-0.5% on nfelo), Love figures to get some targets on top of his rushing volume when he’s on the field.
Over on PrizePicks, Arizona is a 5.5-point underdog to visiting Detroit and returns a 2.94x payout if it can pull off the upset in Week 5.

In a snap-by-snap league, all it could take is one awkward step for Love to potentially aggravate whatever’s bothering him with his ankle. Still, as long as he and the Cardinals feel like he’s going in the right direction, there isn’t a ton of incentive to pull the #3 overall pick from your fantasy lineups.
