James Cook Injury Update vs. Dolphins: Is Bills RB Playing this Week?

Bills RB James Cook was his usual reliable self in last week’s win against the Kansas City Chiefs, rushing for over 100 yards, but early this week, Cook missed practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury, causing some concern for his Week 10 injury status.

Cook has carried a heavier workload than usual this season: his 153 carries rank third in the NFL; that kind of wear and tear can lead to breakdown.

It's understandable that the Bills would play things safe with one of their key franchise offensive pieces after he left the game vs. the Chiefs briefly with the ankle injury

Let’s take a look at the latest James Cook injury news to find if the star RB will be playing at full strength this week in a divisional showdown vs. the Dolphins in Week 10, plus Cook's projections on PrizePicks for Week 10.

Is James Cook Playing This Week vs. Dolphins?

Have no fear: HC Sean McDermott confirmed on Friday that, following a limited practice on Thursday, Cook is ready to play in this weekend’s game against the Dolphins. There are no indications that he will be limited.

On an appearance of Up & Adams with host Kay Adams on Thursday, Cook said “I’m ready to go. I’m gonna be out there when it’s time to play on Sunday. (I’m) going back home. Gotta play at home.” Cook is extra motivated to play this week in Miami, as he graduated from Miami Central Senior High School.

Based on this information, there is no reason to believe Cook is in any danger of missing this week’s matchup.

James Cook Stat Projections vs. Dolphins

James Cook Stat Projections vs. Dolphins

Cook should be fired up with confidence against one of the NFL’s worst rushing defenses this season, and a divisional opponent. The Dolphins have struggled to contain most running backs, giving up over 5 yards per carry and allowing the 4th-highest Explosive Rush Rate to opposing backfields, per FTN.

The Bills will be looking to beat down on one of their biggest division rivals, so expect offensive coordinator Joe Brady to use Cook in a variety of ways in this game.

In the Bills’ first matchup agains the Dolphins earlier this season, Cook rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries, adding 3 reception and 10 yards through the air. The Dolphins have since moved on from key run-stopper DE Jaelan Phillips, which could help Cook do even more damage this week.

Here are James Cook's stat projections vs. the Dolphins on PrizePicks for NFL Week 10.

  • 17.5 Rush Attempts
  • 85.5 Rush Yards
  • 9.5 Receiving Yards
  • 0.5 Rush+Rec TDs (Goblin)
  • 1.5 Receptions
