Giants QB Jaxson Dart Projections vs. Patriots: 28.5 Rush Yards
Running is a huge part of Dart’s game. As Schneier’s tweet illustrates, Dart has been using his mobility and vision in synchronicity for years now, and the Giants just need to find safer ways for him to get on the ground.
The Patriots have been impressive against running QBs this season, only allowing two quarterbacks to have more than 20 rushing yards against them so far, per CBS Sports. However, they were Buffalo's Josh Allen and the Jets' Justin Fields — two QBs that have similar rushing upside as Dart.
Dart may be able to exploit the Patriots’ man coverage defense on the ground. When defenses play man, the corners and LBs commonly turn their backs to focus on their coverage assignments, leaving the middle of the field open for QBs to scramble.
While we could see the Patriots put a QB spy on Dart tonight, he has typically found a way to get into space for big runs, with at least one run of 15+ yards in five of his seven starts. He's also had more than 50 rushing yards in five of his seven starts.
Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson Projections vs. Giants: 65.5 Rush Yards
Henderson has flashed throughout the season, but head coach Mike Vrabel and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels have been very intentional in how they want to use their rookie in tandem with veteran RB Rhamondre Stevenson, who came into the season as the RB1.
Stevenson and McDaniels had familiarity from Stevenson’s rookie year with the Patriots, so for a couple of months, Henderson played second fiddle to the vet.
However, Stevenson hit the bench after a toe injury forced him out for a couple of weeks, giving Henderson the reins, and he ran with it, averaging 110 total yards per game while Stevenson was sidelined.
Henderson now draws a great matchup with the Giants, who give up the second-most yards per game (126.2) and the highest yards per rush to RBs (6.2), per Lineups.
The Giants could really struggle to contain the tandem of Stevenson and Henderson, but look for Henderson to bounce outside and force the Giants LBs to tackle him in space.
