Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets After Week 1: Eyes on Daniel Jones, Hollywood Brown, 2 More

Daniel Jones tops the list of fantasy football waiver wire targets after Week 1

Turns out this Daniel Jones guy is pretty good at quarterbacking.

The Colts signal caller went off on an admittedly woeful Miami defense, finishing the weekend as Fantasy Pros' QB3, making him a worthy addition to a fantasy roster whose QB1 is, say, Miami's flailing Tua Tagovailoa. And Jones probably on your waiver wire. Because, Daniel Jones.

Which other waiver wire pickups might help your team heading into Week 2?

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets After Week 1

Colts QB Daniel Jones

The former Giant didn’t just guide the Colts to their first season-opening victory in 11 years, but he made NFL history, leading his team to a scoring drive on every single offensive possession against the Dolphins, with nary a punt, turnover, or kneel-down to be seen, something no other quarterback has accomplished since 1991.

Jones completed 22 of 29 passes (75.9%) for 272 yards and a TD, adding 26 rushing yards and 2 scores on the ground, good for nearly 30 fantasy points in most formats. He set a career-high with 197 passing yards in the first half, and played a clean 60 minutes.

Much of his fantasy value rides on those rushing attempts, especially near the goal line, where, much to the chagrin of Jonathan Taylor owners, he vultured two short TDs from the prolific back.

If your squad needs QB upside or a Week 2 streamer, Daniel Jones can be a sneaky play against Denver.

Chiefs WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown

In the Chiefs' loss on Thursday, the speedster turned in one of the standout Week 1 performances from potentially available WRs. With theoretical WR1 Rashee Rice suspended and WR Xavier Worthy injured, Marquise Brown became QB Patrick Mahomes’ primary target, catching 10 of 16 targets for 99 yards. He posted a 30% target share, making him an essential waiver pickup for teams needing WR help, especially in PPR formats

What sets Brown apart is his ability to get open quickly and rip chunk gains after the catch, as he posted a robust 9.9 yards per reception. If you missed out on top-tier WRs at the draft, Brown offers immediate fantasy production for managers.

Browns RB Dylan Sampson

The former Tennessee Volunteer handled 12 carries for 29 yards in his NFL debut, but stood out in the passing game, hauling in all 8 of his targets for 64 receiving yards, leading the Browns in total touches.

Sampson doubled RB Jerome Ford’s carries and functioned as Cleveland’s primary checkdown and short-yardage option, a rare role for an untouted rookie in Week 1. The 20-year-old flashed the skills that made him a collegiate standout at Tennessee in 2024, where he had 1,491 rushing yards and 22 TDs.

With fellow rookie RB Quinshon Judkins having signed his contract, there will be more competition for Sampson down the road, but for now, his volume makes him a high-floor PPR option with RB2 potential if his dual-threat usage continues.

Browns TE Harold Fannin Jr.

The second Clevelander on our list provided immediate volume and big-play potential in Week 1, hauling in 7 of his 9 targets for 63 yards.

Early and often, the Browns schemed touches for the rookie out of Bowling Green, showcasing his athleticism. In a position group plagued by weekly landmines and low usage, Fannin instantly becomes a difference-maker, especially in full-PPR formats where his quick separation and soft hands translate to steady fantasy output.

Fannin out-targeted incumbent TE David Njoku and posted a 22-yard highlight catch on a Joe Flacco throw, providing the Browns with an extra spark on offense. With Cleveland’s offense needing reliable playmakers, there’s significant upside, especially with a soft-handed pass catcher who set a single-season FBS record for a TE with 117 catches for 1,555 yards in 2024.

Fannin should be a top Week 1 waiver wire target at the tight end position.
