DeVonta Smith Injury Update: Is Smith Playing in Week 4?
Smith was also hampered by a hamstring injury leading up to Monday’s game against the Bears and even missed practice before ultimately suiting up.
After sitting out Wednesday's and Thursday’s practices, Smith was also sidelined for Friday’s practice session.
According to ESPN’s Tim McManus, there isn’t “much optimism” that Smith will play in Week 4 due to the injury.
The Eagles’ top WR has been the team’s top pass-catcher through the first three weeks of the season. In Week 2, Smith had his best game of the season, hauling in 10 passes for 117 yards and a TD in a 24-17 win against the Tennessee Titans. Smith followed that up by registering 6 receptions for 65 yards in Monday’s 27-7 loss to the Bears.
Since the Eagles traded star WR A.J. Brown this past offseason, Smith has easily established himself as the team’s top wideout. If Smith can’t suit up on Sunday, who could step up for the Eagles?
Eagles Fantasy Football Outlook If Smith Misses Week 4
Smith has been relatively healthy throughout his NFL career, missing only five regular-season contests across six seasons. The Eagles’ star WR hasn’t been inactive since missing four games in 2024.
Smith has enjoyed a fairly strong start in 2026, catching 19 passes for 235 yards and a TD. The Eagles' standout had a career-high 13 targets in Week 2's game vs. the Titans.
According to PlayerProfiler, Smith has registered a 33.3% target share this season, which ranks second among all NFL WRs. Additionally, Smith has also tallied the ninth-most targets (27) in the league.
If Smith misses Sunday’s game against the Rams, WR Dontayvion Wicks could play a crucial role in the Eagles’ passing attack. Wicks has caught 9 passes for 179 yards and a TD in three games this season.
Wicks has really thrived in the red zone, receiving a 40.0% target share (ninth among WRs) when the Eagles are in the red zone. The former Packers WR has also ranks 20th in the league with 4 deep targets, proving that he can be a downfield option for QB Jalen Hurts.
The Rams’ defense has surrendered just 272.7 passing yards per game this season but gave up 30 points in a 30-26 loss to the Broncos in Week 3. According to RBSDM, the Rams have yielded -0.051 EPA per play (10th) and a 42.0% success rate (11th).
As a result, it could be a difficult task for Hurts and company to move the ball down the field against this stingy Rams defense, though DT Aaron Donald's expected absence helps.
According to PrizePicks, Wicks is currently projected for 56.5 receiving yards vs. the Rams in Week 4.
