Clippers vs. Knicks Prediction, Spread, Over/Under

Los Angeles isn’t close to being the same team that finished fifth in the Western Conference last season. Kawhi Leonard and James Harden are having resurgent years, but neither aging star is able to make up for the Clippers’ weaknesses as a unit.

Harden, 36, is averaging more than 25.0 points per game for the first time since his last full season with the Houston Rockets in 2019-20. Leonard, 34, is averaging a career-high 28.1 points per game. However, Los Angeles is one of the league’s least productive teams on offense.

The Clippers are 27th in points per game (112.4) and are attempting an NBA-low 83.1 field goals per contest.

That’s not surprising when you take the fact that they’re the league's oldest and slowest team into account. They opened the year with an average age of 30.7 and rank last in pace (98.7).

New York is just outside the top 20 (101.8) in pace and has an average age that's just above 27 years old. However, the Knicks are more productive as an offensive unit and create second-chance opportunities on the offensive glass.

Brunson is averaging a career-high 29.2 points, but six other Knicks are also averaging at least 10.0 points per game this season as well.

C Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging 22.0 points per game, SF Mikal Bridges is averaging 16.2 points per game, and PF OG Anunoby is averaging 15.5 points per game. G Jordan Clarkson and G Miles McBride are both averaging double-digits off the bench.

C Mitchell Robinson has a lot to do with why New York is among the league's best rebounding teams. He's hauling in 4.5 of his team's 13.6 offensive rebounds per game through 24 outings, despite the fact that he's made just 13 starts.

To put things in perspective, Portland Trail Blazers C Donovan Clingan leads the league with 4.6 offensive boards per contest. Robinson's elite instincts have helped the Knicks rank fourth in total rebounds (46.2) and offensive rebounds per game.

Harden (shoulder) is probable for Los Angeles, while SG Bogdan Bogdanovic (hamstring), PF Derrick Jones Jr. (knee), and SG Bradley Beal (hip) have been ruled out. Hart (ankle) is out for New York.
