Caleb Williams Injury Update: Will Williams Play in Week 6?
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Bears head coach Ben Johnson said Williams will fully participate in Wednesday’s estimated practice. This comes after Johnson said Williams was close to returning after Sunday’s 31-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
"He's on track," Johnson said, per ESPN’s Courtney Cronin. "We'll see if it's Atlanta or after. I think it's going to be close."
Williams was diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain and was initially given a recovery period of three to four weeks. Since he's been out, both QB Case Keenum and Tyson Bagent have seen the field for Chicago.
Keenum started against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3 and led the Bears to a dominant 27-7 win. Meanwhile, Bagent has started the past two games but did struggle against the Packers, throwing 2 INTs.
On PrizePicks, Williams carries Week 6 projections of 219.5 Pass Yards, 19.5 Pass Completions, and 1.5 Pass TDs (Goblin) if he takes the field.
Bears Fantasy Football Outlook & QB Options If Williams Is Out
Williams is coming off a strong 2025 season in which he completed 58.1% of his passes for 3,942 yards and 27 TDs. As a result, he was one of the more sought-after QBs in fantasy football, returning a QB7 average draft position (ADP) this summer, per FantasyPros.
The Bears’ offense certainly is much more efficient when Williams is under center. In limited playing time this campaign, Williams has 22.3 expected fantasy points per contest, ranking fourth among NFL QBs, per PlayerProfiler.
Williams completed 21 of 29 passes for 269 yards and 2 TDs against the Carolina Panthers in Week 1 in his lone full game. As a team, the Bears average 39.6 passing plays per game (11th) — that number could go up with Williams potentially back.
If Williams isn’t quite ready, Bagent could be back under center despite struggling in Week 5. He's averaged 7.5 yards per pass (13th) and posted a 76.9% true completion percentage (fourth) in three games in 2026.
The Bears are slated to face a Falcons defense that gives up -0.035 EPA/play (seventh), 0.010 dropback EPA/play (fifth), and a 41.7% dropback success rate (fifth). However, Atlanta allows 248.4 passing yards per game, ranking 27th.
The Bears are 2.5-point road favorites against the Falcons, according to PrizePicks, returning a 1.61x payout with an outright win.
