The Jaguars suffered a crushing blow heading into Week 9 when they placed WR Travis Hunter (knee) on injured reserve. He had his best game of the season before their bye, torching the Rams for 8 receptions, 101 yards, and 1 TD in Week 7.
As if losing Hunter wasn’t bad enough, Jaguars top WR Brian Thomas Jr. came out of their Week 9 win over the Raiders with an ankle injury. Now, Thomas has been ruled out for the Jaguars Week 10 game vs. the Texans, and could be out for longer.
Below, we’ll provide an injury update for Brian Thomas Jr. for Week 10, while also discussing the impact that his injury could potentially have on Jaguars new WR Jakobi Meyers and starting WR Parker Washington, and their stat projections on PrizePicks.
Brian Thomas Jr. Injury Update: Is Thomas Playing This Week?
Thomas did not practice either Wednesday or Thursday, and has now officially been ruled out for the Week 10 game vs. the Texans. With no practices this week, it's possible we could see Thomas miss multiple weeks with his ankle injury.
On Monday, Doctor of Physical Therapy Tom Christ said that video indicated that Thomas likely sustained a high ankle sprain. He noted that wide receivers usually miss an average of 2.8 games with this type of injury. Adam Schefter of ESPN later reported that Thomas is in-fact dealing with a low-grade high ankle sprain.
Jaguars WR Depth Chart With Brian Thomas Out
Given the injuries to Hunter and Thomas, the Jaguars needed to bolster their wide receiver depth chart. They did so by acquiring WR Jakobi Meyers in a trade with the Raiders on Tuesday.
A pending free agent, Meyers has caught 33-of-49 targets for 352 yards. It has been a down season for the veteran in Las Vegas, after he had 87 receptions, 1,027 yards, and 4 TDs last year.
With Hunter out last week, Jaguars WR Parker Washington played a season-high 70 offensive snaps. He made his mark, catching 8 of 9 targets for 90 yards. With Thomas possibly out and Meyers still learning his new playbook, Washington could remain in a prominent role for at least one more week.

Washington is currently projected for 45.5 receiving yards and 11 fantasy points with 3.5 receptions as a Goblin projection on PrizePicks real-money game, where you can cash in on your NFL picks. Meyers projections are not yet posted as of publishing, but keep an eye out to gauge his potential involvement this week.
Complicating matters for the Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence and the team’s passing attack this week is that the Texans have given up the fourth-fewest passing yards per game (177.5) in the league. They have allowed just 80 receptions to wide receivers, which is the third-fewest in the NFL.
