The good news for the Jets is that, by all accounts, Hall continues to make appropriate progress and is still expected to be ready when New York takes on the Tennessee Titans at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 13.
Not only that, but there’s growing buzz that the fifth-year man could remain the centerpiece of the offense in East Rutherford, N.J.
A season ago, Hall set new career marks for rush attempts (243), yards (1,065), and first downs (57). He played in 16 regular-season games and was rewarded with a three-year extension instead of playing out this year on a franchise tag.
Hall’s efficiency stats were nothing special, but the Jets’ infrastructure around him was largely to blame. For example, per NFL Pro, he notched 0.5 rush yards over expectation per attempt. That included a 0.8 RYOE mark when he ran outside the tackles and had more space to work with. Via Pro Football Focus, he forced 40 missed tackles in the process.
The former second-round pick was still a viable pass-catching threat, too. Among all RBs with 100+ rushes in 2025, Hall’s 10.7% target share was good for 14th. He hasn’t appeared to lose any of his wiggle or explosiveness despite having nagging injuries in the past.
With offensive coordinator Frank Reich now calling plays, the Jets could be a run-heavy squad in 2026. That makes it even more important that Hall gets back to 100% for Week 1.

Breece Hall Fantasy Football Outlook & Jets’ Options If He Misses Time
An already lackluster Jets offense (in terms of outlook), could be doomed if Hall misses Week 1 or any other stretch of time this season. He’s a go-to pick for many in fantasy land, evidenced by his No. 33 overall average draft position (ADP), per FantasyPros. That makes him the 16th halfback off the board on average, underscoring his floor but perhaps ignoring some of his ceiling.
What about if Hall isn’t on the field to kick off a new Jets season? First-round rookie TE Kenyon Sadiq is rehabbing alongside Hall in an effort to be ready for the opener, so New York’s weaponry is in flux for now.
Two players do come to mind as options to target if Hall isn’t on the field, though. RB Braelon Allen and WR Garrett Wilson should be kept in mind.
Starting with Allen, he has a prototypical frame for a short-yardage or red-zone back. At 6-foot-1 and 235 pounds, he’s difficult for opposing defenders to bring down, and New York appears to be aware of that. On the flip side, Allen only played in four games a year ago. The 22-year-old is entering a pressure-packed junior season.
Wilson, of course, is the face of the Jets’ offense. His 2025 was also cut short due to injury, but he broke out for 101 receptions, 1,104 yards, and 7 TDs the year prior. Out of 155 wideouts with 100+ routes run in 2024, he trailed only Seattle Seahawks superstar Jaxon Smith-Njigba in target share at 33.7% to 35.8%.
Considering that Omar Cooper Jr. is a first-year player and Adonai Mitchell’s hype has yet to manifest into results, Wilson figures to remain the trusted recipient of QB Geno Smith’s passes.
