Ashton Jeanty Injury Update: Will Jeanty Play This Week?

On Friday, Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak revealed that Jeanty is now questionable to play against the Patriots, per The Athletic’s Sam Warren. Kubiak didn’t say whether Jeanty’s injuries are new, but Jeanty will travel with the team.

Jeanty fully participated in Wednesday’s practice but was downgraded to a limited session on Thursday, followed by another step in the wrong direction by missing Friday's practice.

The second-year RB suffered an ankle sprain during training camp in August. Jeanty has been playing through the injury and has appeared in all four games so far.

The surprising development isn’t ideal for the Raiders, as Jeanty is trending toward being a game-time decision. If he misses Sunday’s contest, how does that affect fantasy football and picks for PrizePicks?

Raiders Fantasy Football Outlook If Ashton Jeanty Is Out

Jeanty inherited the Raiders’ backfield as a rookie in 2025, but averaged just 3.7 yards per carry in his first professional season. Still, there’s plenty of reason to believe in the talent that the Boise State product brings to the gridiron.

Fantasy managers were still inclined to snag Jeanty early in their fantasy football drafts leading up to the start of the season. According to FantasyPros, Jeanty was RB12 for average draft position (ADP) and selected in the second round of most fantasy football drafts.

In four games this season, Jeanty has carried the ball 78 times for 264 (3.4 yards per carry) and has yet to find the end zone on the ground. However, the former first-round pick has been utilized as a target out of the backfield, catching 19 passes for 165 yards and 2 TDs.

His most productive performance came in Week 1, when Jeanty rushed for 102 yards and caught 6 passes for 45 yards and 2 TDs.

Jeanty has registered a 74.9% snap share this season, ranking fifth among all NFL RBs, per PlayerProfiler. His 18.5 fantasy points per contest also rank 10th among RBs.

If Jeanty can’t suit up on Sunday, the Raiders will likely turn to rookie RB Mike Washington Jr. The Raiders have tallied 29.0 team running plays per game (fourth), with Washington likely receiving an abundance of those opportunities.

Washington has racked up 4.8 yards per touch, which ranks 22nd among RBs.

Week 5 could be a tough matchup against the Patriots, who have surrendered 19.3 PPG (seventh), -0.007 EPA per play (12th), and a 42.0% success rate (seventh), per RBSDM. Meanwhile, the Raiders have registered the 11th-best EPA per play (0.034) and 28.8 PPG (seventh).

The Patriots give up a 49.7% dropback success rate (10th) and just 189.8 passing yards per game (fifth). If Jeanty suits up, the Raiders RB has the sixth-most carries (78) and has yet to fumble.
