In the Detroit’s Thanksgiving Day loss against the Green Bay Packers, Lions star WR Amon-Ra St. Brown suffered an ankle injury midway through the first quarter that knocked him out for the rest of the game and, as of this writing, has kept him off the practice field leading up to tonight’s Thursday Night Football matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
With TE Sam Laporta already ruled out for the rest of the 2025 season, St. Brown, a three-time Pro Bowler, is a massive offensive issue for the Lions, who suffered their third loss in five games and slipped to third place in the NFC North.
Let’s get an Amon-Ra St. Brown injury update and see what it could mean for sure-handed WR, including St. Brown’s ’ PrizePicks projections for this crucial NFC matchup in Week 14.
Amon-Ra St. Brown Injury Update
St. Brown will likely be a true game-time decision to play this week versus the Cowboys, due to him not practicing all week.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell noted early Wednesday that he knows that, if St. Brown is able to play, then "...he’ll play.” Campbell also explained that St. Brown had stayed fresh with mental reps despite not physically practicing.
The fifth-year WR is tough. He’s only missed two games in his entire career, so it’s not a stretch to think that St. Brown could do whatever he can to suit up for this matchup.
Let's look at the outlook for the other Lions weapons if the Sun God is in the sidelines.
Detroit Lions Fantasy Outlook for Week 14 Without St. Brown
Once St. Brown left the game on Thanksgiving, the bulk of the routes run by the Lions' wide receivers were run by Williams and 2025 rookie Isaac Teslaa, who has shown promise this season with some seriously flashy catches.
The two receivers would presumably man the boundaries, while fourth-year WR Tom Kennedy could line up in the slot. The Lions don’t have any other WRs on their roster besides Kalif Raymond, who is injured (ankle), and Dominic Lovett, who has no targets this season.
If St. Brown sits, Williams could be the WR1. Since Campbell took over the offensive play calling in early November, Williams hIas had games of 119, 88, and 144 yards, potentially signifying a larger role.
Teslaa has functioned as more of a gadgety shock value weapon for the Lions — his first game with more than a single catch came last week with St. Brown out.
