Interview: The Pull of a Lifetime, Delivered from the Throne
One ordinary Thursday in Texas turned into a collector’s dream. On October 29, 2026, Cam opened a pack in the newly-launched PrizePicks Packs and pulled the 2025/26 Topps Chrome Update Dylan Harper Rookie NBA Debut Patch Auto 1/1, graded PSA 9. The one-of-a-kind card was valued at $2.88 million, and Cam decided to sell it back to PrizePicks at fair market value. The next day, he spoke with Dylan Cooper, SVP of Product, and Victoria Davis, Chief Communications Officer, to relive the moment he pulled the card while in the bathroom. Cam asked us to keep his full name private to protect his family. Read the conversation below.

- All right, Cam, let's hop into it. First of all, congratulations. Huge day. Can you introduce yourself? How long have you been a PrizePicks user?
Cam from Texas: Yeah, absolutely. My name's Cam. I'm from Texas, and I love what you guys are doing. I signed up during the NBA Finals and have been using PrizePicks ever since.
- What made you want to try out the PrizePicks Packs product?
Cam from Texas: I saw a pop-up when I was opening up the app. I think I was going to make a lineup or something, and I saw the packs. I was like, "Oh, cool. I've always wanted to try this and obviously, I'm on PrizePicks already, so I trust the whole platform. It's been awesome. When [Packs] was introduced, I pushed the button, started ripping a few things with the balance that I had in my account already, and it was super seamless. It was easy.
- Are you a big sports/pokemon card collector? Can you walk us through your experience with the hobby?
Cam from Texas: I have a hobby shop pretty close by, and of course I buy retail and everything too. Everything from Pokémon to Magic to all the sports, everything. It's fun. The chase is fun for me.
I'll have my personal collection too, of people that I like to keep. Dylan Harper was always top of mind, but I can tell you this: He's in my PC [personal collection] now, for sure, moving forward. I've got to get the jersey too. But yeah, huge card collector. Love it. Never experienced the packs like you guys offer. I like this route a lot more. It's exciting. You don't have to worry about all the bulk and everything that comes along with collecting cards. So I do like your approach better.
- Fantastic. Well, let's talk a little bit about the special day. Walk us through, that day?
Cam from Texas: My son [25 years old] was over and we were getting some lunch, so I was sitting there with him, eating a little bit. I was like, "Hey, dude, have you ever tried these packs online where you can rip cards and stuff?" He's a huge collector too, and he's more focused on Pokémon. I was showing him how it works, and he's like, "Oh, that's cool." We did all three combinations, football, hoops, and Pokemon, just showing him how it worked. That was that. It was cool. Hit a couple of things, no big deal.
Then we wrapped up eating. He finished up and ended up going back upstairs to his room. So I did what any dude would do after lunch: I go to the bathroom and sit on the toilet for a little bit. Whenever I do that, of course you've got to have your phone and of course you've got to have PrizePicks. That's when I started opening up the packs.
I'm sitting there doing it just like I was in the kitchen earlier while we were eating lunch. I was feeling good with the hoops. I was toggling back and forth between the $10, $25, the occasional $50. But $25 felt really good for some reason, so I just kept doing that, ripping those. I was getting GOAT, Legendary, MVP.
Then I ripped it, dude, and I don't know what it was, but it just seemed like it was different from all the other rips. You're seeing the white, the silver, the gold, the red, and then you see this purplish. I'm immediately like, "No way, dude. It is there. It does exist."
It did that thing where you thought it was going to go by it, and then it clicks back, and boom: Grail. Did I expect to see an NBA debut patch? Dude, absolutely not. It blew my mind.
Now, mind you, I'm sitting on the toilet, right? Trying to do my business, as one does. Without giving you too much information, that business was not successful. I was just super stoked. I had to get up, of course, wash my hands, do all the things, and I immediately ran upstairs.
I'm banging on my son's door: "Dude, look at this!" Where his room is, is where my wife's office is upstairs. I get them both, and there's a little couch up there. At this point, I'm shaking. I'm starting to shake just talking about it again. I'm like, "Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God."
I show my son first because he knows exactly what it is. He's a collector. He's a fan. He saw that, and his mouth just dropped. Then I'm trying to show my wife, and she's trying to figure out what I'm even talking about. She thought something was wrong upstairs and the house was falling apart, just because of the way I ran upstairs so quickly.
We're sitting on the couch, and I'm showing them. Me and my son were just in awe, and my wife's like, "Wait, what is that?" Trying to figure out what it says. I was like, "Dude, you don't even realize. Not only is this a massive amount of money, but I've been trying to chase any type of NBA debut patch card ever since they came out."
To actually get one, and to get one of the best ones, oh man, it was surreal, dude. Like I said earlier, I don't really have the words to describe it. It was awesome.
- That's such an amazing story. Oh my goodness. When you saw the card pop up, how did you decide to put it in your locker?
Cam from Texas: I wanted to look at it and really think. I took some screenshots of it and everything. Just really thinking, "Dude, is this real? Did I seriously just pull this card?"
Yeah, it's a crazy amount of money to sell this. But also, what does it look like if I can have this shipped to me or brought to me and have it in my hand? Your mind starts thinking, "Should I keep it for a little bit, touch it, and then sell it?"
I also like the Spurs. I love Dylan Harper. I think he's amazing. So that helped too, and that's part of getting the card in my possession.
That was kind of what was going through my mind. Just really the whole shock of hitting it, putting it somewhere without having to sell it. Just put it in the locker for a second, look at it for a second, and really be in the moment: "Wow, I really did just hit this."
- How were the few hours after? What did you do after you ran upstairs and had a few minutes to quiet down? What was the next move that you made after that?
Cam from Texas: Try to process. Really just sit there and try to process. I talked to my wife after that for a little while. All the things that something like this can do for someone and their family, you're talking about things like that. That doesn't necessarily mean buy stuff. That's not even what's on my mind.
It's just trying to figure out, "Okay, this is real. What are the next steps? What's something smart to do? How can we put this together?" Just kind of figure out a game plan.
That's what I did up until I talked to you later on that day. We went to get something to eat, went over to my office just to have some quiet time without all the kids in the house and everyone being in our business, if you will, just to put together a game plan and figure out what the next steps are. We ultimately decided to sell.
- Once you made the decision to sell? How did it feel to actually see the account tick up to $2,880,000?
Cam from Texas: Honestly, it kind of feels like play money for a second. It really does. You're like, "Man, this is not real. It was insane to see that much in the account. I've never seen anything like that in the account before, so that was a new experience for me, and it was awesome.
- Is there anything that you're planning to use that money for?
Cam from Texas: We talked about it a little bit. We don't have anything drawn out exactly, what we want to do with the next steps. Obviously, be smart, take care of the family, invest… I don't have all the details yet, but really just be smart, take care of the family.
- Thank you. It's been a lot of fun to innovate in the collectibles space, and we are glad true collectors like yourself are getting to see that. If you had to say anything to Dylan Harper himself, what would you say?
Cam from Texas: I would say, man, that's a good question. One of the reasons I really wanted to get this card shipped to me was to at least offer it to Dylan Harper himself. It's his best card ever, and I think the athletes should have an opportunity to have their best card ever. That was what was really going through my mind, wanting to get the card in my hand, was to reach out to him personally and be like, "Look, dude, look what I got. It's yours if you want it."
- Would you have sold it to him, or would you have given it to him?
Cam from Texas If I was in a different financial situation, maybe that's another story. But no, it definitely would have been sold to him.
- One of the big things we set out to do with PrizePicks Packs was to get some of the best cards in the world and give anybody a chance to pull them. What would you say to people who don’t think it's actually possible to pull these cards?
Cam from Texas: I would tell them to trust it, to believe it. Like I said earlier, is it common to hit a Grail? Absolutely not. Is it common to hit GOAT, Legendary? Yeah, I've hit it several times. Probably two dozen times I've hit GOAT on different pack amounts: $10, $25, $50… The cards that you guys have are excellent. They're GOATs. They're the Tom Bradys, the LeBrons. Everything you want, you guys are offering. It's really fun, and I would encourage anyone to try PrizePicks Packs and give it a shot. It's the real deal.
- What's the next Grail that you're after? What's the next one you're going to try to get?
Cam from Texas: Not looking at the dollar amount or anything, I would really like to get a LeBron James rookie, one of those Grails. I would love to have that card in my collection just to hang on to it. I wouldn't sell that one.
- Any advice you would give to PrizePicks users who are checking out PrizePicks Packs for the first time?
Cam from Texas: Again, probably just trust it, try it. Try a dollar pack, try a $5 pack, $10 pack. It's legit, man, and it's so much fun. You guys did an excellent job. Give it a shot.
