The New York Jets are coming off only their second win of the season, a Week 10 27-20 win over the Cleveland Browns. While they are highly unlikely to make any noise this season, they probably aren't going down without a fight when they take on the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The game kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET and can be seen Prime Video.
The Jets will likely be without star WR Garrett Wilson, who limped off the field in the second half against Cleveland after attempting a diving catch. Wilson could miss significant time as the Jets prepare for this divisional rumble on TNF.
With Garrett Wilson potentially out for Thursday Night Football, which Jets WRs might pick up the slack?
Garrett Wilson Injury Update for Thursday Night Football
Adam Schefter announced that an MRI revealed Wilson had hyperextended his knee in the Jets’ Week 10 victory and he’s expected to miss “a couple of weeks.” With the Jets out of the playoff picture, they could potentially shut down their WR1 for the remainder of the season.

The third-year pass-catcher leads the team with 36 receptions for 395 yards and 4 TDs. He has been the primary target for Jets QB Justin Fields, who has thrown to him 59 times in seven games. Now with Wilson out for an extended period of time, it’s up to the supporting cast to step up.
New York Jets WR Depth Chart vs. Patriots on Thursday Night Football
- WR1 Garrett Wilson - OUT
- WR2 Allen Lazard
- WR3 Adonai Mitchell
- WR4 Tyler Johnson
- WR5 John Metchie III
- WR6 Arian Smith
AD Mitchell was such a nice acquisition by the Jets as a small part of the Sauce trade -- exactly the kind of player a team like Jets should be betting on.

The Jets rank last in the league with 143.8 passing yards per game, largely because offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand leans on run-heavy game scripts, calling just 33.5 pass plays per contest. Fields targets Wilson on more than a third of his throws, leaving New York with a major hole entering Thursday night’s matchup with the Patriots.
In Week 10, head coach Aaron Glenn decided to bench veteran WR Allen Lazard, while newly acquired WR Adonai Mitchell was a healthy scratch. This left the Jets with a WR corps of Isaiah Williams, John Metchie III, Isaiah Davis, and Tyler Johnson, none of whom managed more than 1 reception or 4 receiving yards.
No Jets receiver has more than 11 catches, and only two others even have double-digit totals besides Wilson. Johnson is second on the team with 187 receiving yards, catching 10-of-16 targets to go with a team-long reception of 35 yards. His involvement in the passing game has been improving week-to-week, giving him an opportunity to play a vital role moving forward.
While Lazard was benched in Week 10, the Jets might need his services on a short week against their divisional foes. The eight-year veteran comes into this matchup with 7 receptions on 11 targets for 45 yards and 1 TD in six games.
Now the Jets turn to Mitchell — acquired in the Sauce Gardner trade with the Colts — who could make his debut in Foxborough on Thursday night. The second-year WR has 9 catches on 16 targets for 152 yards this season and will look to step up in the absence of fellow teammate Wilson.
It’s going to be tough for fantasy managers to handle Wilson’s absence during the playoff stretch. While this opens up the opportunity for one of these Jets’ WRs to step up and be productive, fantasy should consider avoiding this messy situation.
Dealing with injuries like Wilson's has been rough for fantasy managers in 2025. That’s why there is nothing better than being able to start fresh with a new Lineup every week with PrizePicks' real-money NFL game.
