Darryn Peterson poses with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver after being selected by the Jazz at the 2026 NBA Draft.

Before the 2026 NBA Summer League tips off in Las Vegas on Thursday, July 9, the Salt Lake City Summer League featured four teams in action on July 4, 6, and 7. That included the hosts, the Utah Jazz, and the No. 2 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, Darryn Peterson.

The top 2026 guard prospect has lived up to the hype so far, delivering two big-time Summer League performances in his debut. Utah elected to sit its star rookie on the final day of the event on Tuesday night, as it looks forward to the Las Vegas Summer League schedule

Peterson will be one of the best players on show in the 2026 NBA Summer League, putting the Jazz in the spotlight. Below, we’ll highlight Darryn Peterson’s Summer League stats through two games and Utah’s upcoming Summer League schedule, featuring projections on PrizePicks.

Darryn Peterson Summer League Stats Shine in Salt Lake City

Throughout the 2026 NBA Draft process, Peterson was tabbed as potentially the best scoring prospect of a loaded class. He consistently displayed three-level scoring dating back to his high school days, paired with rare shot creation for his age.

Peterson, who turns 20 in January, was excellent when he was active for the Jayhawks, finishing his collegiate career with 20.2 points per game (PPG) and 4.2 rebounds per game (RPG) while shooting 43.8% from the field and 38.2% on 3-pointers over 24 games.

However, the true freshman active was a big if. He missed 11 games throughout the 2025-26 season, and midgame cramping forced Peterson into a limited role in multiple appearances. The cramping issues fueled plenty of chatter, often leading to questions around Peterson’s character.

Before the 2026 NBA Draft, we learned his cramping issues stemmed from high doses of creatine taken before the 2025-26 season. But that didn’t ease the worry about his injury history, leading to Peterson landing with the Jazz No. 2 overall, behind AJ Dybantsa to the Wizards.

There’s never been a doubt about Peterson’s talent. He’s even drawn comparisons to Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, as the 19-year-old carries MVP potential. Through two Summer League games, he looks the part.

Here’s a full look at Darryn Peterson’s Summer League stats through two games, including his per-game averages.

PrizePicks Team Picks tabs Utah as the early favorite with a 1.63x payout to win the matchup, compared to the Wizards’ 2.12x payout.
