2025 NBA Mock Draft: Top Ten Picks Projections
1. Dallas Mavericks – SF Cooper Flagg
It has been known since last year’s NBA Draft concluded that Cooper Flagg was the top prospect coming into 2025. Flagg lived up to the hype in his lone season at Duke by averaging 19.2 points and 7.5 rebounds, and was the recipient of the Wooden Award for most outstanding player. He’s the best three-way player with offensive versatility, defensive toughness, and the intangibles that will make him a future leader of this team.
There is no doubt he will be the overall No. 1 pick and will be on the Mavericks, unless another team comes with an offer they can’t refuse.
2. San Antonio Spurs – PG/SG Dylan Harper
If it wasn’t for Flagg, Harper would be worthy of being the top pick in the draft. The guard from Rutgers had an incredible year on a bad Rutgers team and finished with 19.4 points per game.
He’s already accustomed to the workings of the NBA and has the winning pedigree thanks to being the son of five-time NBA champion Ron Harper. He’s a premier point guard who plays well off the pick-and-roll and has a great sense to find the optimal passing option, or can finish to the rim.
He’s not the best 3-point shooter at 33.3% this season, but he can hit from mid-range and is dynamic at the catch-and-shoot.
This will give San Antonio two highly talented point guards with the pairing of Harper and De’Aaron Fox.
3. Philadlepa 76ers – SG VJ Edgecombe
There are rumors that the 76ers are interested in taking Ace Bailey in this spot, but after canceling his pre-draft workout with the team, Philadelphia will likely go in a different direction.
Edgecombe is not a consolation prize, as he showed at Baylor to be an incredible two-way player. His fantastic athleticism and physical prowess make him one of the most explosive players in this draft. That helps him finish at the rim and allows him to be a premier defender. He does well moving around the court and playing off the ball to get a quick pass at the rim or play off a catch-and-shoot.
Philadelphia will try again with the team they developed last year, but Edgecombe should make an impact with that group of stars.
4. Charlotte Hornets - SG Tre Johnson
Johnson thrived this season in the competitive SEC by averaging a conference-leading 19.9 points and shooting 39.7% from three. He’s a great spot-up shooter, and he can play off the screen. As a top-tier ball handler, he can quickly grab points as his 21 three-pointers made off transitions led all freshmen. He holds onto the ball more than he should, but he is a better passer than he gets credit for.
The Hornets have a solid collection of players, but unfortunately, injuries have derailed this team in recent years. If they can stay healthy, with Johnson, they can be a fast-paced, high-scoring offense.
5. Utah Jazz - SG/SF Kon Knueppel
With Flagg getting all of the attention, we rarely heard about Duke’s other stars, especially since they were bounced in the Final Four. The "other stars" stat with Kon Knueppel, Kuppel was a huge part of the Blue Devils run to the Final Four.
He’s a fantastic two-way star, he is an efficient long-range shooter who finished last season 40.6% from three. He plays excellently off the ball, can get open off ball screens, and sets up well for catch-and-shoot opportunities off transitions. At 6-foot-7, 215 pounds, he uses his size to finish at the rim, isn't afraid to take contact, and is willing to get physical on the boards for control of the ball.
The Jazz have several big men, including Walker Kessler, and a point guard in Keyonte George, adding Knueppel would help this potential rising team.
6. Washington Wizards - SG/SF Ace Bailey
With an impressive wingspan and scoring ability, it’s no wonder some analysts are comparing Bailey to Kevin Durant when he was entering the league. He is a pure scorer and has numerous ways to score. That scoring was on display as he had three 30+ point performances in Big Ten games, and some believe that in a few years, he could average 20 points in the league.
He should create a few nightly highlights for a struggling Wizards team that is trying to rebuild.
7. New Orleans Pelicans - PG/SG Jeremiah Fears
Fears is someone who could potentially become a top-tier guard in the league. His dynamic athleticism and ball-handling skills make him difficult to guard, allowing him to create space for a clear short-range shot.
In the current NBA, backcourt players need to develop long-range shooting skills, and that isn’t yet there. He was 43.4% from the floor, but only 28% from three. If he can improve those aspects, then he’ll become dangerous at his position.
With Dejounte Murray coming off a torn achilles and CJ McCollum in the last year of his contract, the Pelicans are in need of a guard for their future.
8. Brooklyn Nets - SF Carter Bryant
Bryant is one of those prospects where you can’t look at stats, but at overall play on the court. He only averaged 6.5 points this season, but that was due to limited minutes. The reason why experts are high on him is because of the potential they’ve seen, especially in his workouts.
He has size that includes a seven-foot wingspan and a 39.5% max vertical, and uses that on defense, as the opposition has trouble getting through him. The long-range shot is there as he finished with 37% from three.
Teams will take Bryant for the raw talent and high basketball IQ with the hope he can continue to develop and become an above average player.
9. Toronto Raptors - C Khaman Maluach
We’re seeing how good of a roster Duke had this past year, as there’s a possibility of three players from that team going in the top ten. One of the biggest prospects in this class is coming in at 7-foot-1 with a 7-foot-7 wingspan.
Teams will look to him based on his size; while he’s great at putbacks, and had the second-most alley-oops in the country last year (38), he does not have an offensive game outside of the paint.
The Raptors have a few outside scoring options, and Maluach will fill in the much-needed role of cleaning up at the rim.
10. Phoenix Suns G/F Cedric Coward
The Suns just shipped off Kevin Durant, so by selecting Coward, they can develop his replacement. He only played six games last season, but looked great by averaging 17.7 points per game on 55.7% from the floor and 40% from three.
What has helped his stock rise is teams being impressed with his individual workouts. He’s a versatile player who you can plug and play into several positions and can shooting efficiently from the top of the key or the wing.
The Suns still have stars in established roles, and Coward is adaptable to where he can gel and make an impact wherever he is put.
