NFL Draft Rumors 2025: Who Will The Patriots Draft in Round 1?

Find out who the Patriots could draft with the fourth overall pick in the NFL Draft.

The 2025 NFL Draft gets underway on Thursday night. Amid endless rumors and speculation that it brings, one of the least talked about picks is the Patriots at No. 4, who could go in a few different directions with their pick.

The consensus among draft experts is the Patriots will draft an offensive tackle. Our mock draft predicts the Patriots to take LSU OT Will Campbell. But the Patriots could shock everyone on Thursday night, including ESPN expert Peter Shrager, who also has Campbell going to the Patriots.

Think you know how the Draft will unfold? Make your picks in PrizePicks’ free-to-play Draft game and win real rewards if you hit — no cost, just a shot at $500,000 in Free Lineups. If you’re watching the draft, you might as well try to get your cut of the winnings.

Who Will the Patriots Draft in Round 1?

The Patriots are sitting at No. 4, and will likely have the chance to draft the top players at each position of need, outside of the likely first three picks: QB Cam Ward, CB/WR Travis Hunter, and EDGE Abdul Carter.

Our mock draft currently has the Patriots drafting LSU T Will Campbell because they urgently need someone to protect QB Drake Maye’s blindside. New England had a problem keeping pressure off him last year, and the protection of a young quarterback is very important.

Campbell is a plug-and-play left tackle with SEC pedigree. He checks all the boxes for a team trying to stabilize Maye’s development.

Could the Patriots Draft a WR?

If the Patriots pivot to an offensive weapon, they could get aggressive and reach for a WR, which is a big need that wasn’t addressed in free agency.

DeMario Douglas was their leading receiver for the second year in a row, but he only tallied 621 yards (61st). The Patriots have not had a 1,000-yard receiver since 2019.

Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan is an incredible playmaker and could be a key target to add for Maye, but it would be a shock to see him go fourth in the draft, even if he is the consensus top WR prospect.

Will the Patriots Trade Out of the No. 4 Pick?

There are a few options for teams that could jump to pick No. 4 — though none seem very likely, and there are no strong rumors that point to a move.

Potential suitors for the Patriots No. 4 pick include:

  • A team looking to get Ashton Jeanty before he gets to the Jaguars
  • A team looking to add a QB like Shedeur Sanders before the rest of the field gets a chance to pick him

However, trade buzz around this pick has been quiet — but that’s fitting for a team that isn’t tipping its hand ahead of the Draft.

Despite holding the fourth overall pick, the Patriots aren’t getting much hype going into Thursday’s Draft. But they’re sitting on one of the most pivotal picks. While the assumption is they’ll take Will Campbell, it’s not a shoe-in by any means, as their options are open.

If you think you’ve got a read on how the Draft plays out, don’t just watch — get in on the action.

The free-to-play PrizePicks Draft game lets you make free picks for a shot at $500,000 in Free Lineups. Submit your 3-Pick Draft Lineup before Thursday at 8 p.m. ET and win a share of the prizes if you get all three picks right.
