The Chicago Bears surprised many in Week 6 with their 25-24 win over the Washington Commanders. The Monsters of the Midway improved to 3-2, marking their first winning record since early 2024.
Despite coming away with the big victory, the Bears didn't head back to Chicago unscathed, as WR DJ Moore was hospitalized as a precautionary measure for a groin injury he potentially suffered while blocking. He was released the next day and is considered day-to-day for Chicago’s Week 7 matchup with the New Orleans Saints.
What’s the latest on Moore’s injury status? Will he be ready to go in time for Week 7? Let's discuss.

DJ Moore Injury Update: Is Moore Playing in Week 7?
Moore hasn’t had the year many hoped he’d have in his second season playing alongside QB Caleb Williams, with whom he had a decent rapport in 2024 when he finished as fantasy football's WR16. But first-year HC Ben Johnson tends to spread the ball, so here in 2025, Moore has been trending towards WR2 status, racking up 19 receptions for 26 yards for 215 yards and 1 TD.
Johnson has been using him as a gadget player — think Deebo Samuel lite — who's seen 99 snaps on run plays, fifth-most for a WR this season. While Moore's not putting up the kind of receiving numbers we enjoyed during his tenure in Carolina, he's keeping defenses honest.
Given the numerous playmakers the Bears have at their disposal, it would probably be the logical move for them to take their time with Moore’s recovery.
DJ Moore & Bears’ WRs Fantasy Outlook
Should Moore need to sit in Week 7, the Bears seem to be well-equipped to deal with his absence. Second-year WR Rome Odunze is getting closer to being the star some pundits predicted he would be when he was drafted in 2024. Thus far, it looks like the former Washington Husky has taken a big step forward, as he comes into Week 7 leading all Chicago WRs with 22 receptions on 40 targets for 328 yards and 5 TDs.
With Moore’s potential absence, Chicago’s pass catchers will need to step up in Week 7 and possibly beyond. Rookie WR Luther Burden III should be sliding into that WR2 role, while WR Olamide Zaccheaus, and TEs Cole Kmet and Colston Loveland could see an uptick in targets.
The Chicago Bears’ pass catchers have a great matchup coming against the Saints. In their Week 6 tilt against New Orleans, New England Patriots receivers grabbed 13 catches on 17 targets for 220 yards and 3 TDs. And on average, the Saints allow 10.67 catches on 16 targets for 143.67 yards, 1.33 TDs, and 21.67 fantasy points per game to opposing WRs.
If Moore is out for Week 7, Chicago's pass catchers might see a statistical upgrade, Odunze could have top-10 potential, and Burden might have some FLEX appeal.
