The biggest star in the WNBA has been sidelined since July 16 and there is no official word when PG Caitlin Clark will return to the Indiana Fever lineup.
Clark has missed the last 15 games with a right groin injury, bringing her total to 21 games on the sidelines this season. She will also miss Tuesday's game against the Seattle Storm tonight.
The Fever enter Tuesday’s game vs. the Storm at 19-18 with a solid chance to return to the playoffs for a second straight season, currently sitting as the No. 8 seed.
The major question with seven games remaining: can the Fever get over the hump if Clark doesn’t return?
When Will Caitlin Clark Return From Injury?
There is no official timeline for Clark's return, as she will miss her 16th straight game tonight vs. the Storm.
However, the Fever and Clark are still shooting for her to return in the 2025 regular season. The final regular season game is on Tuesday, Sept. 9 vs. the Lynx — that is only two weeks from today.
Caitlin Clark’s Impact for Fever in 2025
Clark isn’t leading the Fever in scoring, as that honor goes to fellow G Kelsey Mitchell, who averages 20.7 points per game.
The former University of Iowa superstar averaged 19.2 PPG in 40 games of her rookie season, but has dipped to 16.5 PPG this season in only 13 games due to injury.
There is no timetable for her return from the groin injury, as she tweaked her left ankle in an August 7 workout. However, she recently did return to non-contact drills on Aug. 24, but isn't officially practicing with the team still.
Fever head coach Stephanie White says the team is cautious with Clark's return, though she could return to practice soon:
The Fever head west following Tuesday’s game against Seattle, who they have beaten twice this season. Indiana faces Los Angeles, Golden State, and Phoenix, all teams that the Fever are competing with for a playoff spot.
How Are Fever Performing Without Clark?
Currently, the Fever sit at No. 8 in the WNBA Playoff picture, one game ahead of the Los Angeles Sparks, and tied in record with the Golden State Valkyries (losing the tiebreaker)
In the last 15 games without Clark, the Fever are 7-8, but are still averaging 85.8 PPG. Indiana is posting 85.1 PPG, so for them to be scoring more points without Clark since the All-Star break is impressive, and
The Fever are shooting 34.9% from 3-point range this season, but that number has jumped to 42.7% over the past five contests.
Mitchell’s scoring numbers have risen to 22.8 PPG since the All-Star break, but C Aliyah Boston has sustained a slight dip with 14.0 ppg the last 15 contests. Boston is averaging 15.2 PPG this season, which is an increase from 14.0 PPG during Clark’s rookie campaign.
