During the second quarter of the Steelers’ Week 11 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, QB Aaron Rodgers injured his left non-throwing wrist. Although he returned to finish the first half, he was not spotted on the sideline for the rest of the game, replaced by QB Mason Rudolph, and did not return.

It has since been announced that Rodgers is dealing with a small break in his left wrist and is questionable to play this weekend against the NFC North-leading Chicago Bears. In good news, Rodgers’ wrist will not need surgery and is reportedly pushing to play without missing any time at all.

Let’s take a look at the latest injury update for the future Hall of Fame QB and dig into some key stats and fantasy football outlooks for Week 12.

Will Aaron Rodgers Play in Week 12 vs. Bears?

Initial reporting was vague on Rodgers’ injury, as nobody was sure whether he would need surgery. After undergoing further tests, however, Rodgers will not need to go under the knife and could even play this upcoming weekend against the Bears.

Given that the injury was to Rodgers’ left wrist, it’s fair to think he should be able to give it a go. The main concern, according to injury analyst Jeff Mueller, is ball security on handoffs. Until head coach Mike Tomlin announces whether Rodgers will play, however, we have to assume that Rudolph will start in his place in Week 12.

Steelers Offensive Outlook with Mason Rudolph

Rudolph came in off the bench to start the second half of Sunday’s game and proceeded to put up solid numbers, going 12/16 for 127 yards and 1 TD. He looked calm, cool, and collected, spreading the ball around to multiple Steelers’ pass-catchers.

In 2024, Rudolph started and finished six games for the Steelers. He had an up-and-down statistical resume, pairing 9 touchdown passes with 9 interceptions and throwing for just over 1,500 yards.

Steelers fans will likely prefer Rodgers being able to make a go of it on Sunday against the Bears, even with his injured wrist. However, Rudolph is an acceptable backup, and if he has to lead the Steel Curtain offense, the skill position players should be fine for fantasy football.
