Other Notable Offseason MLB Free Agent Signings

Before diving into the top five free agent signings for fantasy baseball, let’s highlight 10 other notable moves that took place across the league.

Head on over to Playbook for continued MLB content.

  • Alex Bregman, 3B, Chicago Cubs
  • Edwin Diaz, RP, Los Angeles Dodgers
  • Eugenio Suarez, 3B, Cincinnati Reds
  • Devin Williams, RP, New York Mets
  • Ranger Suarez, SP, Boston Red Sox
  • Chris Bassitt, SP, Baltimore Orioles
  • Tatsuya Imai, SP, Houston Astros
  • Munetaka Murakami, 1B, Chicago White Sox
  • Kazuma Okamoto, 3B, Toronto Blue Jays
  • Ryan Helsley, RP, Baltimore Orioles

After spending a season with the Boston Red Sox in 2025, Alex Bregman elected to leave for the Chicago Cubs in the offseason. He just produced the fewest HRs (18) and RBIs (62) of his career since 2021, but his strikeout rate (14.1%) and wRC+ (125) remained solid.

Edwin Diaz joined the Los Angeles Dodgers to give the reigning champs a reliable option out of the bullpen at the end of games. In each of the last four seasons, Diaz accrued a 2.66 xERA or better, at least a 34.6% strikeout rate, and 20+ saves.

Eugenio Suarez has been a consistent source of power, with 30+ HRs in six of his last eight seasons. The experienced 3B signed with the Cincinnati Reds; Great American Ball Park is second in home run park factor over the last three years.

Kyle Tucker, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers

The rich got richer this offseason, with the Dodgers inking star OF Kyle Tucker to a lucrative contract. Tucker spent last year with the Cubs, producing 22 HRs, 73 RBIs, and 25 SBs across 597 PAs.

While Tucker’s 136 wRC+ and .363 wOBA were still solid metrics a season ago, he dealt with hand and calf injuries, which limited his power numbers. Now, Tucker joins a loaded Dodgers lineup, where he’s expected to bat second or third in the order.

Tucker tallied 29+ HRs from 2021 to 2023 with the Houston Astros, and Dodger Stadium is first in home run park factor over the last three years. Taking that into account, it’s worth noting that Tucker’s MLBSZN HR projection on PrizePicks is set at 27.5 for his debut campaign in L.A.

Pete Alonso, 1B, Baltimore Orioles

Following seven seasons in the majors with the New York Mets, Pete Alonso joined the Baltimore Orioles via free agency. Alonso has never been lacking in the power department, posting at least 34 HRs in six of his seven years.

Along with Alonso’s MLBSZN HR projection on PrizePicks being 37.5, his multi-HR games projection is set at 3.5. In his final season in New York, Alonso had 38 long balls and 5 multi-HR performances.

Alonso hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down entering his age-31 season, and he’s coming off a 2025 campaign where he was seventh in average exit velocity (93.5 MPH) and third in barrels per plate appearance rate (12.6%). Alonso will also see a boost in venue when playing at home in 2026.

Oriole Park is eighth in home run park factor over the last three years, while Citi Field is 12th during that span.

Bo Bichette, 3B/SS, New York Mets

As Alonso departs the Mets, New York brings in Bo Bichette following his World Series run with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Despite Bichette not flashing elite power in recent seasons, his .357 OBP, .361 wOBA, and 134 wRC+ were his highest metrics since his rookie year in 2019.

Bichette’s ability to get on base and avoid strikeouts (career-best 14.5% K-rate in 2025) could pair well early in New York’s lineup alongside OF Juan Soto. With Bichette having at least 175 hits under his belt in four of his last five seasons, his MLBSZN hits projection sits at 165.5.

Plus, Bichette could potentially be hitting out of the No. 3 spot in the Mets’ batting order behind Soto and SS Francisco Lindor, so it’s also worth pointing out his MLBSZN RBIs projection is 80.5.

Dylan Cease, SP, Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays made a concerted effort to improve the top of their rotation, adding Dylan Cease from the San Diego Padres. Cease has thrown at least 165 innings and has made 32+ starts in five straight seasons, so he’s a consistent starter in fantasy baseball.

Among SPs with at least 150 innings pitched in 2025, Cease posted the third-highest strikeout rate (29.8%) and highest whiff rate (33.4%). Cease has totaled 215 or more strikeouts in each of the last five seasons, and his MLBSZN strikeouts projection on PrizePicks is 200.5.

The concern with Cease is that he had a 20th-percentile walk rate (9.8%) a season ago, and he’s registered a 9.6% walk mark or worse in six of his seven years in the majors.

Framber Valdez, SP, Detroit Tigers

Following an eight-year career with the Astros, Framber Valdez signed with the Detroit Tigers, strengthening a rotation that already featured Tarik Skubal. What Valdez lacks in strikeout upside, he makes up for with his ability to limit hard contact and pitch deep into games.

Valdez has recorded a 0.86 HR/9 or better in seven of his eight seasons with the Astros, and he was in the 97th percentile in groundball rate (59.4%) in 2025. The veteran southpaw was also in the 76th percentile in barrel rate allowed (6.7%).

Across each of the last four years, Valdez has earned 12+ wins and at least 169 strikeouts. Valdez’s MLBSZN wins projection is 11.5, and his strikeout projection is 168.5.
