Experience Levels and Matchmaking
Player Picks is a multiplayer competition where you face off against a group of your peers to build the best fantasy sports lineup. This multiplayer element does not exist for other pick types (i.e. Team Picks, Culture Picks, or Free Picks).
Here’s how the matchmaking process works:
Once you lock in your lineup, you’ll be placed into a group of contestants that
1) have the same number of projections in their lineup,
2) are close to you in experience level, and
3) have games in their lineups that start at similar times as yours.
For 2-pick lineups, you’ll be placed into groups of 50 total members.
For 3 and 4-pick lineups, you’ll be placed into groups of 100 total members.
For 5 and 6-pick lineups, you’ll be placed in groups of 500 total members.
All Members in the group will be human players; PrizePicks does not use bots to fill out groups. Please note that you will not be allowed to submit two lineups into the same group of contestants; no playing against yourself!
Each participant will be automatically assigned a randomly generated username. You can choose your own custom display name by visiting the Settings tab in the app.
Experience levels on PrizePicks fall into one of the three categories below:
Rookie: Suit up kid, it’s time to make your debut! If you have participated in 50 or fewer competitions on PrizePicks, AND you haven’t been otherwise identified as a more experienced player, you’ll start out as a Rookie. Rookies show up on the leaderboard with a 1-star badge.
All-Star: You’ve made your mark in this league and proven you’re ready for a step up in competition. If you have participated in between 50 and 500 PrizePicks competitions, AND you haven’t been otherwise identified as a more experienced player, you’ll compete at the All-Star level. All-Stars show up on the leaderboard with a 2-star badge.
Superstar: When the announcer reads your name, the fans cheer and the competition sweats nervously. You will earn Superstar status if you accomplish ONE of the following:
• Entering more than 500 contests offered by PrizePicks
• Winning more than five prizes where the total cumulative value of the prizes is $2,500 or more from a single DFS operator
• Winning more than three prizes where the individual value of each prize is $1,000 or more from a single DFS operator
Only the most grizzled PrizePicks veterans can hang at the Superstar level. Will you be one of them? Superstars show up on the leaderboard with a 3-star badge.
Rookies will ALWAYS play together, but there may be occasions when All-Stars and Superstars are placed in the same group.
