We’re more than halfway through the preseason, and your fantasy football draft is on the horizon, with just 17 days until kickoff. It's time to look at the key takeaways from NFL Preseason Week 2 games.
Throughout the offseason, minicamp, and now training camp, we have been looking at key position battles like the one in Indianapolis between QB Anthony Richardson and QB Daniel Jones, as well as rookies who are shining and others not so much
In preseason, what you’re looking for is who has the IT-factor, and so far, players like RB TreVeyon Henderson, QB Jaxson Dart, and QB Caleb Williams have been showing that they have got IT.
Certainly, there weren’t many big names playing a ton in Week 2, but we did have some great performances. Let’s get into the preseason Week 2 takeaways for fantasy football.

Jaxson Dart Shines in Week 2
The Giants' first-round NFL Draft pick is continuing to impress this preseason. Jaxson Dart rattled off 137 yards, going 14-of-16 with 1 passing TD and 1 rushing TD. He also had 13 straight completions during their 31-12 rout of the New York Jets.
While Dart has faced nothing but vanilla coverages in the preseason, he is doing what you would expect from a highly touted prospect. This is going to make for some interesting conversation for the Giants’ coaching staff when it comes to their starting QB.
It’s more than likely that Russell Wilson will be the Week 1 starter for the Giants, but the leash will not be long with Dart waiting in the wings.
If you’re in a dynasty league, Dart is definitely someone you’d want to stash. Even in redraft leagues, with his rushing upside, taking a flier on Dart in the last round of your draft could be one that pans out.

TreVeyon Henderson Continues to Dominate
All throughout the offseason, the talk has been about highly touted rookies Ashton Jeanty and RB Omarion Hampton, who have been at the top of the fantasy rankings with Jeanty’s ADP at 11 and Hampton’s ADP at 41.
Now, during the first two weeks of the preseason, we can’t stop talking about TreVeyon Henderson, who’s been lighting it up.
The former Ohio State standout rusher made waves in the first week of preseason with a 100-yard kickoff return to start the game. That explosiveness carried over into Week 2 on the road against the Minnesota Vikings.
Henderson ended his one series with 20 yards on four carries and a beautiful run on 3rd and 4 where he stutter-stepped into the hole, broke a tackle, and barreled into the end zone.
Henderson is going around Round 5 in most drafts right now as the overall ADP 52. However, if he continues to show out in the last week of the preseason, don’t be surprised if we see him creep up even more in drafts ahead of players like RB Kenneth Walker and RB James Connor.
He has the potential to be a breakout candidate with OC Josh McDaniels now calling the plays for the New England Patriots.

No Separation with QB Battle in Indianapolis
The Indianapolis Colts are still in limbo with their QB battle between former first-round draft picks Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones. Neither Richardson nor Jones has separated themselves from the other during the preseason thus far.
In Week 1, we saw Richardson take a blind side hit that sidelined him for the remainder of the game. From there, Jones came in and played decently to finish out the game, going 10-for-21 and 144 passing yards, but didn’t WOW anyone. Moving on to Week 2, Richardson was able to play injury-free and made some big throws down the field, but left with a stat line of 6/11, 73 passing yards, and no TDs.
Jones’ stat line was a bit better, going 7/11 with 101 yards, but just like Richardson, he did not toss a passing TD. However, Jones made a great throw to rookie tight end Tyler Warren — who could be in for a big year no matter who the QB is in Indy.
As of now, Jones' stats are just a little bit better — 17/32 and 245 passing yards — through two weeks into the preseason, but the starting job is still up in the air.
This gives a lot of pause when it comes to players like WR Josh Downs — who many analysts have in line for a big year — WR Michael Pittman Jr., and Tyler Warren. It’s a wait-and-see approach to who emerges at the QB1 for the Colts this season.

Ben Johnson Could Be Caleb Williams' Savior
Could we see the coming-out party this year for Caleb Williams? From what we saw in Week 2, it’s certainly possible.
Williams looked poised in the pocket, and his timing was on point in Week 2. He commanded the offense with precision, and he was like a seasoned veteran just coming into his second year of his NFL career.
Williams is still not only making the throws, but making the right decisions, even if it is against soft coverage in the preseason. Williams' progression against pressure has been on full display by making quick reads and the right decisions with the ball.
Williams is starting to look like the franchise QB that the Chicago Bears hoped he would be when he wsas drafted with the No. 1 pick last year.
When it comes to fantasy football, Williams is being drafted as the QB15 behind the likes of Justin Fields, Justin Herbert, and Brock Purdy. There is a legitimate chance he finish inside the top 12 or better, which could make him a steal in the later rounds of your draft.

More Preseason Week 2: Positional Battles, Injury Notes
- Texans WR Christian Kirk continues to play as the Texans WR2 next to Nico Collins. However, rookie WR Jayden Higgins has looked promising as the team's WR3 and could push for the WR2 role.
- Texans RB Nick Chubb got the start and played most of the early-down work this weekend. Rookie RB Woody Marks came in next, taking 7 carries for 40 yards.
- Jets starting RB snaps were split between Breece Hall and Braelon Allen were split this weekend: Hall with 11, Allen with 8. With Justin Fields taking additional rushing opportunities, this looks like a situation to avoid in drafts.
- Jaguars RB situation is equally muddy, as Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne split the backfield this weekend. It's hard to see one taking a large majority of the role early in they year.
- Dolphins' RB De'Von Achane is dealing with a calf injury (soft tissue) an is expected to miss at least one week. Achane is still planning to play Week 1 vs. the Colts.
- Bucs WR Jalen McMillan suffered a scary neck injury vs. the Steelers, but he was cleared to fly home with the team. He donned a neck brace, and his status for Week 1 is currently uncertain.
- Chargers WR Quentin Johnston suffered a concussion after taking a hard hit vs. the Rams and laid motionless on the field. He was hospitalized after the hit. His status for Week 1 is at risk, but currently uncertain.
