Mercury vs. Liberty Prediction, Spread, Over/Under – Wednesday, May 27

Phoenix and New York match up for the first time this season after last meeting in the first round of the 2025 WNBA Playoffs. These teams will face each other at the Barclays Center once again on Friday evening.

Monday's 81-74 loss to the Portland Fire marked the third straight game New York has scored under 77 points — a steep drop-off from averaging 100 PPG through its first four contests. After shooting nearly 50% over the first four games, the Liberty has shot under 42% from the field in three consecutive games.

The Mercury’s offense has not had as steep a drop-off as New York but has instead struggled on the defensive side of the ball. Teams are shooting a league-high 38.1% on 3-pointers against Nate Tibbetts’ squad, which has allowed 92 PPG in its five losses this season.

New York will look to salvage the seven-game homestand with Phoenix in town for the next two games. The Liberty is now 1-3 at home, already approaching the five home losses it had in the 2025 regular season.

Meanwhile, Phoenix will be eager to turn its season around, sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference after nearly a full month of regular-season play. Tibbetts' squad will hope to build on its success in Brooklyn from a season ago. The Mercury defeated the Liberty in two of the three games played in New York in the postseason and regular season.

Head coach Chris DeMarco is hopeful G Sabrina Ionescu will be available on Wednesday after she sat out the Liberty's last game for injury management. Ionescu missed the team’s first five games with a foot injury before returning in the Liberty’s 91-76 defeat versus the Wings. New York will lean on F Breanna Stewart and Ionescu to help snap the early-season skid.
