Eagles vs. Buccaneers Prediction, Preview for Week 4
The Eagles travel to Tampa with an undefeated record, 3-0, with wins over the Cowboys, Chiefs, and Rams. The Eagles return a loaded roster after their Super Bowl run, looking on track to contend again in 2025.
However, the Eagles have yet to run away with any game so far, winning very matchup with only a one possession margin.
Meanwhile, the Bucs have run pure to be 3-0. But they've run into some bad injury luck; they're expected to get back All-Pro OT Tristan Wirfs and WR Chris Godwin for their season debuts, but WR Mike Evans will now miss up to four weeks with a hamstring injury.
Philadelphia Eagles Preview
Through the first three weeks of 2025, the Eagles offense ranks 27th overall. Their ground game is a bit more effective, led by OPOY Saqon Barkley, ranking 14th in rushing offense.
But their passing attack with their new offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo has struggled, ranking 29th in pass yards per game (146.7) and lacking any real vertical passing attack to this point.
That can be seen most of all in Eagles WR A.J. Brown's stats, who is averaging just 4 catches and less than 50 yards per game.
Despite this, the Eagles have been able to convert drives into points and win close games — all by one possession, without scoring more than 30 points.
Defensively, the Eagles haven't been as strong to start the year either, though they have been able to keep teams in check. The defense ranks 16th in overall expected points added (EPA) per play, per rbsdm, and 18th in rush EPA specifically.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Preview
The Buccaneers have been one of the more balanced teams to start the season, with just a -1.2% pass rate over expectation, per nflelo — a distancing from their pass-happy offense of 2024 under then-offensive coordinator Liam Coen.
Offensively, the Bucs have been efficient, ranking fifth overall in EPA/play. However, their run game only ranks 23rd in EPA/play, as they've struggled to get things going on the ground — relying on QB Baker Mayfield's arm and clutch gene to get wins.
Their passing offense ranks fifth in EPA/play this year, which has helped Tampa manage to put up the 13th most points, even with a hurt offensive line and banged up wide receivers.
On defense, the Bucs have been mostly unimpressive, ranking 17th overall in success rate allowed (44.4%). However, they've been especially stout against the run, ranking 2nd in rushing defense EPA and ranking fifth in yards allowed per rush (3.6 yards).
Eagles vs. Buccaneers Picks for PrizePicks – Week 4
Here are three of the top Eagles vs. Buccaneers player picks to target for PrizePicks and NFL DFS this week. Projections via the PrizePicks NFL board — where you can pick More or Less on player stat projections to win real money.
Bucs QB Baker Mayfield Projection: 17.5 Rushing yards
Bucs QB Baker Mayfield has been forced to use his legs more than ever, largely due to an injury-riddled offensive line. In his last five games, Mayfield has surpassed 17.5 rushing yards in all five, with his lowest total being 23 yards.
With the Eagles DL holding an edge over this Bucs DL, that trend could continue in Week 4.
The Buccaneers' offensive line remains a liability — RT Charlie Heck has allowed 10 pressures already this season. Meanwhile, the Eagles’ defensive front continues to dominate, and with multiple Bucs linemen banged up, Mayfield will almost certainly be pressured into scrambling early and often.
Bucs WR Emeka Egbuka Projection: 59.5 Receiving Yards
The Eagles secondary is limping into Week 4. CB Adoree’ Jackson is listed as doubtful and has been the weakest link in coverage when active.
If he can’t go, Kelee Ringo, the second-year corner out of Georgia, will take his place. Ringo has yet to play any meaningful snaps this season and struggled in limited action last year, allowing a 90.0 passer rating when targeted.
This bodes well for Emeka Egbuka, the electric rookie wide receiver out of Ohio State. Egbuka is off to a phenomenal start, ranking:
- Top 5 in receiving TDs
- Top 25 in receptions and targets
Through three weeks, he tallied 14 receptions for 181 yards and 3 TDs, while generating a 133.0 passer rating when targeted and averaging nearly 13 yards per catch.
The Bucs will be without WR Mike Evans, while WR Chris Godwin will make his return to the field after nearly a year on the sideline with an ankle injury
Eagles RB Saquon Barkley Projection: 80.5 Rushing Yards
Saquon Barkley has started the 2025 season slower than expected, but the volume is there. He ranks:
- 2nd in the NFL in carries (58)
- Top 15 in rushing yards
- Top 10 in rushing touchdowns
His Week 4 matchup is a favorable one. The Buccaneers’ interior defensive line has been extremely vulnerable against the run:
- Bucs DT Vita Vea ranks 89th of 123 qualified interior linemen in run-stop grade via PFF.
- Bucs DT Greg Gaines ranks 72nd of 123.
- Logan Hall is doubtful to play, which would be a major blow to their interior rotation
Barkley’s rushing yards projection is currently 81.5, and he’s gone more than that mark in 8 of his last 10 road games. With Lane Johnson returning to the lineup for the Eagles and the Bucs' poor interior defense, Barkley is in position to bounce back and return to the version we saw win 2024 Offensive Player of the Year.
